Ahhhh, July...
At first I thought you spelled it wrong. Up here we are having a 'touque' fest!

So what the heck is torquefest? Is it open to anyone or do you need a brute 455 with monster torque and HP to show up?

it is pre '64 vehicles, rockabilly music, swap meets, etc... there appears to be a strong emphasis on rat rod type vehicles...

Yea bigd thats exactly it. Theres an event at Byron dragway called the meltdown drags. Some of the same cars come to this also, we've built a few cars for these events.

Gotcha! That leaves me out. But I wouldn't mind going down there for a look and a beer.

yep! i find the creativity aspect of the rat rod movement interesting... i love to see old iron whether its cars, trucks, tractors or whatever... i see it as an opportunity to keep the pieces and parts of even older vehicles from rotting away completely or being scrapped, even though they are not in a correctly restored vehicle.

Theyre great as long as theyre not a bunch of welded together junk! The t in the pics has a well fabbed chassis and a era correct blown 354 hemi with a vintage 6 duece set up !! sounds nasty.

that T is sweet! i've got my eye on a complete '31 model A chassis... i have a '49 or '50 303 olds that i need to finish tearing down that would be right at home in it. then again i've got a good 350 olds and a good 302 block that i need to do something with. i think with an original chassis, even tho reinforced the mild 302 would be the (safe) way to go... i can't get over how tiny that block is! it's about like carrying a sack of dog food!
