Vin tag decode help and Is it a Matching Numbers Car?
Need help decoding this tag. Does it specify if the car came with a vinyl roof or not? And what else does it tell you? Thanks for your help in advance. Also, they tell me the car is Matching Numbers and these other pictures are what they provided. I'm not sure what they are if someone could tell me, I'd appreciate that also. I don't want to buy something that is not what they say. The complete VIN is 3G87M2Z107635. I want to be positive it's a Matching Numbers Car as the seller advertised it as.
33687: 3 = GM division = Oldsmobile; 3687 = model series & body type = Cutlass S hardtop coupe
Z = assembly plant = Fremont CA
02075 BDY = Fisher body number (has no relationship to the vehicle identification number(
TR 940 = interior color = black
A51 = option code = strato bucket seats
26 26 PNT = lower and upper body colors (both the same: 26) = viking blue
11C = time build code = November (11), third week of that month (C), 1971
The other number groups are codes unique to the Fremont assembly plant. To date, no one has been able to figure out their meaning. The data plate doesn't indicate this car came with a vinyl top as both the lower and upper body colors are paint codes. If it originally had a vinyl top, the second value in the PNT code would be a letter instead of a number.

Reason: add BDY info

Thanks Randy. I added more pictures & question to my OP. We must have been posting at the same time.
And I forgot a line that is the BDY number so I edited my original version to add it in. The VIN derivatives I see are consistent with the VIN you state at the top of your message so that's a good start! Otherwise, I'm not that familiar with the '72 model year so others I'm sure will chime in.

Thanks again Randy. Big help. The rest of the pictures were provided by the seller. I just want to be 100% positive that it's a matching numbers car before I go to the next step. Hopefully the guys will chime in as you say and come to my rescue on this one. Take care
Is this car representing as a Cutlass S or a 442? There's no point in falsifying numbers matching status on a Cutlass S; they're just not worth it monetarily. The vin tag matches the engine vin derivative, and the transmission vin derivative. The only fuzz I can think of is authenticating a '72 442 trim package, although, since it's not linked with an engine that year, there's no real point to that, either. If it's solely a Cutlass S, looks good, and runs well, go buy it. If it's a 442 package car, we may need some more help authenticating that.

Hello & Thank you. The car is a 1972 Cutlass S. I've owned a few Cutlasses in my time, but I've never been one to check or know anything about numbers. I figured I'd ask here. The car is not perfect, needs paint and a few odds and ends to make perfect for me. It is however a 350 4 speed car. I just wanted to be sure engine & transmission match. Am I to understand from what you're saying that it is Numbers Matching?

In the term of the block stamp matches the trans stamp matches the vin tag, yes, and that is what is typically meant by "numbers matching."
