Valvetrain Change

My 72' 350 rocket is getting a full rebuild & I want to change out the rocker "pivots" and install adjustable rocker arms. I know the arms will need studs, guide plates, etc. Anyone done this? I've been looking on the Comp Cams site & I think I've found all the parts but I'm not sure what size the studs need to be.

Wow crickets on this one. Has anyone swapped out those pivots for adjustable rocker arms?

Lots of people have. What do you want? The available conversions range from bolt-on (Harlan Sharp shaft-mounted and Comp Cams with the special 5/16" studs) to those that require machining to install real studs (3/8" or 7/16") and guide plates.

I just installed the comp cam studs and guide plates with roller tip rockers. I have not run the engine yet so i can't say how i like it. Let you know later.

I've done just that, with an adjustible valvetrain kit I got from from Dave Smith Olds. I also got the custom heads from Dave, that already had the studs installed. Valves set up just like a SB Chevy, and only way to go.

I just did the same on my circle track 330... I also milled down the pedestals the thickness of the guide plate to keep the valve train geometry correct and I enlarged the pushrod holes in the head to 9/16".

Consider the Harland Sharp shaft mount rockers, they are a sweet setup. If you are willing or can justify spending about twice as much money to have a true roller rocker setup. No guideplates needed, may need pushrods either way.
