Valve cover breather removal.

Is there a trick to removing the stock breather cap and tube from a 72 CS. The top part seems to just spin and I used quite a bit of pull at the cover with no luck.
Didn’t want to break something off and have it fall inside the cover. Thanks
Mike

Upward pressure, wiggle, twist, simultaneously. There is a raised bead on the breather that has formed a groove in the grommet. Might be time to replace that hardened grommet.

The rubber grommet gets really hard over time with heat of the engine, unfortunately pulling real hard on the breather is the only way and if a piece of rubber breaks off the grommet there isn't much you could have done to prevent it.

Thanks. Guys. Went at it with allot of pull this time and it busted loose. I don’t think I lost any of the rubber. Looking for a new rubber gasket now to replace the worn out one.
