Hi
My name is Arnie Renna and I am new to this form.
I am looking to purchase a complete upholstery kit that fits a 1964 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 convertible.
I am after Front bench and Back seat covers, Front door panels, Rear quarter panels and Sun visors.
I am from Australia, Please don't hold that against me. I have searched the internet and can not find any one that sells Dynamic 88 upholstery kits.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Regards
Arnie
I doubt you'll find anything available for 88's. Your best bet is to go to a reputable upholstery shop and just have them duplicate the patterns in custom.
Agree w/ the above statements. You never know what templates may be laying about in old upholstery shops though - sometimes you find the oddest things.
Thank you guys for your input.
I bought the car as a started project and the previous owner stripped the seats.
As I said I am from Australia and while we have very good upholsterers they would like a pattern to work from.
Would anyone know of or have a pattern I could purchase?
Again thanks for the input.
Cheers
Hi Charlie Jones Thank you for the pictures. Came across an old post of yours, 2013, Do you still have the upholstery shop?
Do you have the templates to make seat cover for my 64 Olds?
Would be cost prohibitive to send door panels to you but could look into buying a set from a salvage yard if you still make them.
Just an idea thought I would run it by you.
Thanks again

I'm sorry but I am not in the upholstery business any more. I sold my sewing machine.
Any door panels from a salvage yard are going to be rubbish. Use new cardboard.
This door cardboard should be available from an upholstery supply house.
Use the old panel as a pattern to cut a new one.
The metal upper rails will have to be pried off the old panel and re-used.
Epoxy works best to glue the metal rails on the new cardboard.
Door panel trim will also have to be re-used.
If you have deep pockets, SMS Fabrics does have complete door panels available.
You might request samples from SMS and then take these samples to local upholstery supply houses to see if you can get similar materials.
Convertibles used an all vinyl interior, no cloth. The " trim number " is on the Fisher body tag on the cowl.
A good upholsterer should be able to make seat covers using pictures as a guide. New seat foam will be required.
Swipe as many pics of 64 Dynamic convertible interiors off the internet as you can.
Good luck!
