It's an Oldsmobile emblem. Saw one once on a chart of Olds emblems, but can't remember the year...Looks like the rocket is leaving a silo.

Looks like mid 70s Toronado wings with a rocket on the front.

Hey Jeffrey!
Yes, I know what it is. It is a Toronado trim ornament that you would find on the inside and outside sail panel on the 1971-77 Toronados. To get it off, you have to take out the inside seat side trim and sail panel trim. The emblem is held in place by 2 posts and a small fastclip fasteners. While you have the inside sail trim off, it also gives you access to the mounting studs for the one on the outside sailpanels. I picked up some of these from a 1975 Toro at the wrecker a couple of months ago. They are made out of pot metal - not plastic. So you have to be carefull taking them off or you'll bend them or bust the mounting pins.

You will not find them on the XSR obviously because of the wraparound rear window. That is one awesome looking car. I wish I had one. It didn't come with a 455 though, it was a 403.

Here is a pic I scanned from my 1972 Olds Ordering guide. Look on the sail panel and you'll see the emblem!

Hope all is going well.

thanks Allan, but it may be 71 - 73 or 4, I have similar ones, but I have a "T" where these rockets are. I remember seeing the same thing as a hood ornament once, maybe a 71 or 72. Puzzling.

The Toro I took 2 out of at the wrecker was labelled as a 1975 and had the emblems both inside and out. On the outside, the emblem was set right in the middle of the sail panel, not up close to the door.

I looked again as you suggested in your PM. You're right. We were talking about 2 different yet similar things. This emblem has to be from a Toro. The laurel leaves around the edge simply do not match those on the 98 Regency. I don't know what year the rocket emblem is from. I would hazard a guess that it's got to be an early year, because all the newer ones have a T in the middle instead of a rocket. Have you posted this in the Big Car section: specifically Toros?
