UK. Buyer for my 1960

I do know better when it comes to this sort of thing.
I was told he would deposit the money directly in my bank account. I told him hit the buy it now, and pay me thru Papal.
This could be legit I guess, he said if I don't have a title he can't ship the car. I told him I do have a clear Texas title. I haven't heard any more from him yet, so I guess we will see.

Hang on, you say it's a 1960 model, but the ebay ad shows a '54.

However your story seems a bit odd, unless you hear more from him I'd forget it, there are plenty of horror stories from both sides of the pond when it comes to shipping to the UK, no doubt the rest of Europe as well.
Of course there have been plenty of transactions that went smoothly and all parties were happy, but this rings a lot of alarm bells imo.

Yes: No import into the EU without a (clean) title. At least not without any major hassle!

I sold my Magnum SRT8 to a guy in Germany, huge pain in the a$$ mostly due to him not cooperating. I told him I won't ship the car till 2 full weeks after I receive payment, to be sure the money was good. He agreed, and I met a transporter at a local Car Max and that was that.

All said and done, I would have rather sold it to the next highest bidder and not had to deal with the headache.

I agree some overseas transactions can be a pain in the rear. Stay on top of him and give strict instruction guidelines. If he does not follow through in a timely manner, relist it.

I have heard so many bad story's about the scams from the UK.
If this go's bad I do have someone in Chicago that wants it now as well.

Check your actual PayPal account balance. I called them about some info a while back, and they said one trick people use is they send you an e-mail message that says the money has been deposited. Looks like a real PayPal message, but it isn't. Don't rely on that. Go right into your account, they said. Make sure the money went in, and isn't being held or anything weird. Any uncertainties, call PayPal.

I have learned to never follow a link just because it looks like it is from eBay or papal, I just go to the log in on eBay or papal to see if the message is real.

I would consider moving any funds recieved out of your paypal account prior to sending the car. Paypal might give it back if it is availible to them, but they won't use their own money to settle an issue. And also ensure your credit card or bank account associated with your paypal account has an extremely low limit or balance.

I always move money from my account that receives electronic deposits quickly to an account that does not have electronic activity, which is also located in another institution. So many scams out there these days. You can never be to careful.

Also, don't send ANY emails to him off eBay. With my transaction, every single message was thru eBay so they could be tracked.

It is a older man that had asked several questions about the car. I am sure he is mad at himself for not acting quicker. He contacted me after the car sold, and asked if I would let him know if the sale didn't go through.
