Trunk Decals question
Trunk Decals question
I have a '68 Olds 442 convertible with the SSII wheels. I already have the jacking instructions decal in the middle of the inside trunk lid. Question... should I also have the "Jack Stowage" decal in the trunk also? If so, what would be the correct location for that decal inside the trunk lid? Also, would the F85 with speciality wheel be the correct decal for my '68 442 with SSII wheels?
Thanks,
Phil

Yes, But The SS2 Option was late coming out to the market so you won't find a 68 SS2 stowage sticker showing specifics on the SS2 only the SS1. Which attaches the same way.
The location varied a bit. If the jack inst is sort of in the center put the stowage sticker to the right of it. Do some Googling and decide for yourself. Can't remember if the Assembly manual shows this general location but I think so. And I do mean general because I've seen many different interpretations of the proper location of these stickers, including the anti-slip sticker.

F85 was both the base model and the name of the body. Often, they'll be referred to as the 33 series because that was the beginning of the A body model code (which had hard top, convertible, and post coupe). The bigger cars were 55 and something else, I think. But, yes, F85 in this case means all Olds A bodies other than the wagons.
Here is a pic from the assembly manual showing the factory locations for the decals. My '68 also has the SS2s. I recently replaced all my trunk decals since I just put a spoiler on the car & two of the studs came right through where the jack instructions were. Although not correct I used the '69 "specialty" wheel stowage instructions since as was mentioned no label is made for a '68 with SS2s. It's a little closer to the SS2 setup as it shows the lug wrench stowage clips.
Thanks Bob.... This is just what I needed. The owner/boob before me put the jacking instructions in the wrong place when he painted the car & inside trunk. I think a hair dryer and new decals car fix this problem.
Thanks again!

Thanks again!

The assembly manual picture is pretty much exactly where my old stickers were and that's where I placed the new stickers after the car was painted. However, the "jacking instructions" sticker (before and after) didn't quite fit into the space as neatly as is shown in the picture. Both my old and new stickers have a few wrinkles in them.
