Trunk Decal location 68 Cutlass

Hi All,

Does the pic look like the correct location for the, jack, storage, and anti-spin decals? Mine are missing and I want to try to put back in correct location.

Thanks, Joe

Joe, I'm not an expert on this but Mark Cornea is. He owns the site called Dr. Decal. I did some browsing there and found some images that suggest that the pic you posted has the decals in the wrong places.

In the past I used to contact him and ask placement questions. Prolly a lot of us did because now when you clik on one of the decal items, it also comes up with a picture showing placement locations.

These images were copied from his site for the purpose of showing you what I mean. Note that both the tire tie downs are on the right, and jacking is on the left - which is the opposite of the pic you posted.
The first one looks like an OEM set of decals for a 69.

This one is from the 68 jack stowage decal group

And to verify what's already been shared you might check with Randy (rcorrigan5). He's got a 1968 convertible that's been in the family since new.

i just noticed in your signature talk about a 68 convertible. if that's what your car is, disregard the pics i posted above. the convertible trunk is different than a coupe/sedan. i'm sure decal placement is different. i don't have the assembly manual in front of me to confirm and haven't gotten that far on the 68 vert we're currently working on to know first hand.

Here are a couple of pictures I took of the original stickers in my trunk lid, and their location, for my '68 4-4-2 convertible Lansing car. Although not crystal clear, they do identify the locations for these stickers - jacking instructions upper right, jack stowage middle right, and anti-spin yellow sticker to the upper left.

The jack stowage and anti-spin stickers went on nice and smooth. The location of the jacking instructions sticker, though, makes it difficult to apply without any wrinkles. My original had wrinkles, too - a lot more wrinkles than the replacement sticker I put on.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys, didn't know convertible may make a difference! It would make sense for the jack instructions to be in the upper right b/c of the larger area, but anything is possible. My "trunk" is still a bit bare.

Does anyone have a 68 vert with a trunk lid like this? Where the jack decal would go is a hole with a raised area around it. I could almost see the factory just slapping it on over top of it. But I don't know. Any ideas?

Hope you don't mind me posting this photo Randy, but attached is a photo of Randy's trunk with the new decal. (I've taken dozens of photos of his car which I refer to in my restoration since his car is an authentic original).

i know where they are supposed to go. but if you look closely at the pics, the inner structure of the trunk lid is different. randy's is the same as all the other 68's i've decaled. this one is different.
