Trim tag is in bad shape...what to do...

69 442 convertible....had body media blasted by a reputable company and covered the trim tag with 3 layers of dusct tape to protect it. After getting the car back and uncovering the tag, it was apparent that the tape did not protect it as well as I thought it would...the tag characters have been "flattened" down to a point that some are difficult to read, and some have almost dissappeared. I thought maybe painting it again would help to make them out, but it did not.
I know tags are available, but do not want to disturb the original. I did take pictures of the tag before I had the car media blasted.
No plans on selling the car, but things change....
What would you guys do?

Not much you can do. Some idiot sanded primer off mine, gee what do you think is going to sand down 1st the primer or the raised letters/numbers. I can make all of mine out still thankfully. I also have the protect-o plate.
