A trick to get better gas mileage
The trick has been removed. It seems to be creating too much of a disturbance

I see I made a mistake and did not go 'high' enuf in the forums tree.
This thread really applys to all sizes and models, should have gone in the general
discussion forum.. How to get it moved where it will do more good for more guys?
Thanks moderator(s).. and my apologies.

Thanks for the tip.
Unfortunately, when I tried it, my mileage went down. Do you think I had the magnet on backward?

I'm currently getting over 1000 MPG, and always looking for ways to make additional improvements.

I guess you guys are pulling my leg. That Ok.
But are you also implying that I wasnt truthful about the 5 cars I reported on and the other successful uses??
If you are happy with 12 mpg instead of 18 thats OK by me.
PS yes the direction of the field makes a difference. (On water lines the S
pole toward the consumption points will keep deposits from accumulating
in the pipes and water heater.)

The way this method works is the magnet causes an alignment of sub-atomic particles called PUT-ONS. It tends to work best with MOR-ONS.

I guess my question has been answered, you are implying I wasnt truthful!!
So for a cost of 5 bucks (for the magnet) and a little work in the shop you
wouldnt take time to FIND OUT for yourselves. Is that right???
BTW - Then if you dont like it you can always use the magnet to hang your
crayon pictures on the refrigerator!!
PS if you are getting a 1000mpg with an 88 coupe then you should never
bi t ch about the price of gas.

Well guys, I am highly doubtful myself but will refrain from being sarcastic since barney isn't selling anything (you don't have a corner on all the permanent magnet stocks do you?). Anyway, I'll move this to the general forum.

Look, automakers are jumping through hoops to meet the CAFE minimum fleet mileage requirements. If it were REALLY this easy to get a "50%" increase in mileage, one would assume this equipment would be standard on all new cars. The new Tahoe hybrid gets about 19 mpg vs 12 mpg for the normal version. Price is about $5,000 more. If GM could do this with $5 worth of magnets, don't you think they would?
Oh, wait! There's a conspiracy, since the automakers really DON'T want to sell higher gas mileage cars...

It makes me no never mind one way or the other. I have no interest in
any industry. I passed along what I found to work and work well for me
since there was moaning about the price of gas..
Price a magnet. Thats your biggest expense and as I said if you dont like it,
use it to hang you're crayon pictures on the refrigerator.
I wouldnt call it any conspiracy, its just that most people like you guys
dont believe it; wont try it to find ou!!

Man, you guys are brutal haha.
I for one, worry what would happen to my rear gears if I had ''an up to 500% increase in low end torque'' from my motor.
Operator....
GET ME OMNIVALVES on the phone RIGHT NOW!

I can't see the original post, so I don't know what we are even talking about here
I'm assuming one of those air cleaner air spinners?

He clamped a magnet to the outside of his fuel line.
The claim is, that it changes the molecular structure of gasoline. The change causes it to "vaporize" for a cleaner and more efficient burn, and it increases fuel mileage by as much as 50 to 100%. The story has been "making the rounds" for at least 60 years.

Well that settles it.
I'm going to patent a fuel saving Hide-A-Key tomorrow.
Any investors want to front me some
beer...uh...er.... development money?

Nothing of the kind. No one can make that judgment without witnessing the actual events, at that time and place.
I am not familiar with this one. I will check it, with my plumbing contractor.

Only if we also patent a fuel saving ice scraper, and if i can drink half the beer..ermm...reap half the barley... the profits..the profits, man.
If I want better fuel economy I'll weld my secondaries shut! QUADRAFLUSH GO!

I had decided I would not post again but Im gonna do one last time......
I havent understood the animosity against a simple, so cheaply implemented,
suggestion. All I tried to do was help!!!! Im not selling anything, Im not
making ANY MONEY off of the idea.
Ive used this and IT WORKS. You had no right to summarily call me a liar -
maybe not in so many words but none the less......... If you didnt want to
believe thats your privelege. PS I never said 100%) The best I ever got
was ~50%. READ next time!!
I would never attempt to tell any of you you were wrong about cam timing,
duration, lift or overlap because they are not in my area of expertise. And
I wouldnt attempt to give you advice about jet sizes on carburetors because
I dont have the knowledge or experience.
Why have you all jumped on my back about magneto-hydrodynamics and particle
physics? Are they really your thing? I dont fully understand all of it but enuf to
make use of the phenomena. Ill bet you dont understand electricity but you use
it every day. Each one of you has his own knowledge in different fields; thats how
you are able to help each other with things you dont know, someone else does and
will offer advice.......
One guy did have it right: the magnetic field does alter the shape of fluid
molecules; whether they be gasoline or water or many others. Why is that so
hard to accept?
One last informational comment: you can not just WHONK a BAR magnet on the
fuel line and expect to get better gas mileage. Bar magnets have the poles on
the flat faces - that wont work! No wonder you didnt see any improvement.
The field lines -HAVE- to cut the fuel column in as NEARLY PARALLEL manner as
possible, concentrated as much as possible and IN THE PROPER DIRECTION.
PS the phenomenon was discovered in the early 1920's so its been around a lot
longer than '60 years'.
Im signing off. Im done!!!

I could see this coming. Two points.
1. Maybe we should be a little slower to pass judgment.
2. Maybe we should not wear our emotions on our sleeves.
wondering if or when to close this thread.........

Leave it up a while longer. And guys, I'd just like to say that I've heard enough gas milage ideas to make me skeptical too, but disagreeing and dissing someone are two different things. We don't have to gang up and rip on someone because we disagree with them. It's easy to type things in without thinking if we'd say that to their face because the internet can be impersonal. Please take a step back and show a little kindness and courtesy. I consider this a family friendly site, and we don't want to be teaching our kids how to pick on other people. My 2 cents.
