Toronado thermostat

Just would like to know the correct temp for a 1966 Toronado 425 engine. Could not find it listed in repair manual. Tks Jute.

Rockauto shows 195* to be OE spec, but it would be hard to go wrong with a 180*

1st gen Toronados tend to run quite hot underhood. I'd use a 180 high flow like a Robertshaw (which incidentally Olds switched to in the early 70s in lieu of the Dole flapper units they'd used for years). The 160 will stay wide open all the time trying to maintain temp and a 195 will be good for cold warmup, but may cause some overheating issues in traffic.

Having a properly functioning clutch fan and all radiator seals and air dams in place is crtitical on a 1st gen Toro.

Should be. The design remained pretty much the same on both for the past 20 years or so - only the name had changed.
The Mr. Gasket high-flow one (available at Autozone) is my top recommendation.

Changed to 180 deg. Mr Gasket thermostat. Took for a ride here in Mary-land temp in the 90's car ran much cooler than before. Thanks Jute
