1960 Olds shifting problems

I finally got my 1956 Oldsmobile mated to the "rebuilt" 1960 Hyrdamatic (jetaway) transmission. It's has trouble upshifting and downshifting back into first I almsot have to be at a stop for it to got back into first. Sometimes I have to let off the gas for it to upshift into it's next gear, now I know the kickdown linkage is adjusted way out of wack for the older transmission so any advice would be great. Hopeing to God that this suppose ed rebuilt transmission has been rebuilt properly if at all.

I don't think your car is to old but I don't know anything about 51s,my affliction is for 63 98s and their is alot to know about them and I have only scratched the surface when it comes to knowing what makes them tick.
There are a few people on this site with the knowledge you require and as soon as they chime in we can all learn whats what with your hookup.
Good luck
Steve

[QUOTE=oldolds51;179667]I "rebuilt" QUOTE]

1) What exactly does "rebuilt" mean?
2) Are you 100% sure the TV linkage is the same from 1956 and 1960? And the distance from the TV lever to the carburator is the same?
3) Are you aware that the '60 is actually a 4 speed?
