Like I said. This is an Oldsmobile forum. I am glad you like what you like. I loved my 59 Rambler wagon. I could care less if someone likes it or not. Takes all of us to support the hobby. I will never sign up to what everyone else does. Like what you like. I will like what I like.

One things for sure, Oldsmobiles aren’t populating like cockroaches anymore! Lol! Neither are Pontiacs! After GM killed the Pontiac’s we bought our first Toyota! Prior to that, I was a devout GM buyer in the new car market! Obama’s version of GM does almost nothing for me anymore! I’ve bought one new FORD in my life and it’s OK but I’d never buy another new one because of sh*t they put in my Sport Trac from the factory! Probably good they dropped Olds because they’d have surely effed it up too by now! I do miss Olds and Pontiac’s! CHANGE sucks IMO!
Mustang SUV’s just suck! Lol!!
And before you know it, they will pass a law where all non electric powered, internal combustion engined cars will be outlawed and need to be turned in to scrap them to build more windmills! Classic or not, they won’t care! I’m glad I’m old!
For me it's more about the nostalgia of the old classics. I'm good with all makes and models. Hell, I saw a pristine early 70's Datsun b210 hatchback and thought it was awesome. I have even come across some old school mopeds at work some folks are restoring and I dig it, lol.
For the new models i'm a bit more reluctant but do like some of these, "horsepower beast" they have. I will say I draw the line at an 800 plus horsepower, twin turbo Honda civic with fat slicks on the front. Also not a fan of Tesla's that run 9 second 1/4 miles. But who knows, if I live another 30 years or so i may change my mind?

Since your bashing Ford, let me give you some insight: Oldsmobile is long gone my friend. Deal with it. Out of the Big 3, only Ford did not file bankruptcy. And, Ford has been on top of the list for best quality built cars and trucks. Lets tone it down, since you said, and I quote: "Not a Ford forum". You sure are making it one...

Yeah, and Corvette may become a whole different brand! Corvette SUV’s and who knows what else! Things will change but I sure don’t like it!

Just like yesteryear, the clueless (or "could care less") masses make up the majority of A to B car ownership. They don't have that "car gene" in their biological make-up like most of us here do. And the muscle car or big boat cruiser as we know it isn't going to be part of it. Unfortunately, there's not enough of the younger generation getting involved with the car hobby as there used to be. Just the way it is.
Also, the newer cars with more powerful IC engines- It's not a simplistic matter of sticking in a bigger engine and gearing with chrome wheels and dual exhaust added to a repainted and rebadged grocery getter. Modern "muscle" versions needs to be developed almost independently from the "entry level" models.
Also, they're making them dependent on wireless updates and continual "connectivity", aka control. It's happening already with GM, Tesla, and even HP printers. GM is making people get OnStar with new cars, and Tesla pretty much makes you connect to the mother ship for updates, and I just found out the new printers HP has now get periodic firmware updates which can tell if you're using HP brand ink or toner, and will not allow you to print anything if you try and use another brand of ink. They call it security protection, yadda yadda, but you can't buy the printer and use whatever ink you want. It's like if GM decided to force you to connect to home base every so often for updates, and use Dexos oil and say, Exxon premium fuel only and if you didn't, your car would shut down. I guess that's why there's a lawsuit going against HP at the moment over this. A partial quote from "Dune" sums it up: “The power to destroy a thing is the absolute control over it...."
I do get a little bored of seeing a lot of cars that shouldn't still be living and they do get long in the tooth as nearly every show has 20 of them. I don't hate them, but they don't really interest me. Especially Corvettes- they are nearly totally invisible to me at a car show. But the aftermarket supported them because they keep selling parts to those that keep wanting to build them. Thus, they over-represent and the non-supported models eventually die off and go away.

I like pretty much all the old cars as long as it is more than 25 years old. Last year I went to a car show that I had attended several times in the past, this particular year there were probably 100 cars, 36 of them were late model Challengers and Chargers, the local late model Mopar club got together to attend. The voting for awards was participant voting. The late model mopars won all the awards, of course they all voted for each other. Im not going to that show again even if that mopar club doesnt come back.
Hay, they are all important to the ones who own them, I love my Olds and I can get lost in older foreign sports cars, vintage sport sedans, a rat rod or two most anything unusual or cool with a story. That why I can be found at cars and coffee, no rules, foreign or domestic, super variety no time limit, go home anytime when your feet hurt or it's too hot or cold. I'm surprised regular car shows do as well as they do, seams the more restrictions = less fun... Just me.... Tedd

Don't forget about GMs big turds: the Vega, Olds Omega, and (to some extent) those diesel Olds powered cars. Please keep in mind, every manufacturer has made turds, and successes. That said, IF I were to buy a new car/truck it would be a Challenger or a Ram truck. My dad was a Rambler/Dodge man. I agree, fake Cobras are like...enough. Yes, its all personal preference. For vintage cars, I like them all: AMC to Oldsmobile.

Ouch. I will take an Omega or a Vega over Any mustang ever built. I would be willing to bet there isn't one person on this site that has never seen a red mustang. Puke. We all have our opinions. That's what makes us all car geeks.
Didn't answer the poll because the categories are too broad for me. For instance: I love '67-8 Camaros, but couldn't care less if I never see another '69. In much the same way, I prefer the '68-9 Cutlass/4-4-2 to '70-72. In both cases, I feel the styling suffered on the later models, losing those sexy quarter panel flares and squaring off those cool radiused wheelwells. Add to that, the "iconic status" of the '69 Camaro and (to an admittedly lesser extent) the '70 Cutlass/4-4-2 means you see them everywhere just makes me kind of "meh" on them.
And the 2-seater T-birds should be in a separate class. However, they don't **** me off as much as they used to because you don't see them as often. I guess the old guys who used to trot them out to shows are mostly dead now.
Which brings to mind another category altogether: anything with skirts, a Continental kit or fuzzy dice.

A little extreme I believe. That's like saying I would take any Pinto over a 442 ever built. Yep, we all have our opinions/views. The last part of your comment, I agree 100 percent--"That's what makes us car geeks" OR as we say here in the West, 'Squirrels".
You are on an Oldsmobile site. Plenty of Omega fans here.
What's extreme? The truth that not one of us hasn't seen a red putzstang? I bet not one. Plenty of us come here because we don't care for putzstang's. See one seen them all. Cockroach of cars. Pinto was the predecessor of the putzstang II. That's where the styling came from.

no1oldsfan,
I'm done interacting with with you. Your constant negative comments are a drag. Its obvious your so called biased 'facts' on other brands is just plain not true. I wish you all the best.

You can have your cake and eat it too when it comes to cars you like/dislike.
I don't come here because I hate Mustangs. I come here because I love Oldsmobiles and they're my favorite brand, generally, out of all of them. There's a few butt-ugly models and certain year Oldsmobiles built I just couldn't own even if someone gave them to me, but not as many as say, Chrysler products. I come here because I am not forced to read about or discuss Camaros, Mustangs, Challengers, Galaxies, Chevelles, etc. It's a focused group of Olds afficiandos. We do own a couple of GMC trucks, a Cadillac, and 2 Chevy Camaros besides 5 Oldsmobiles. I've had a Camaro in the stables in one form or another for about 45 years. But I've had Oldsmobile variations for longer.
Nothing about Corvettes say "get in, drive me". Neat cars, sure, but they're not for me. Same for certain other cars. Mustangs have a few nice attempts, but generally, they don't excite me much. Same with many other makes. Although the old Chargers and Cudas and new Challengers are pretty cool. I might even like a 69 Road Runner a little. I don't care about the biggest or baddest, most HP or any of that, although I prefer the smoothness of a V8.
My biggest concern is that the hobby isn't generating as much interest anymore like it used to for the younger generations. There are some people that have NO IDEA what a 442 is or was.
Like what you like, and if others don't like what you do, so what? That's less competition for you when you want to go buy one.

Most never did. Go out and ask any random "car person" what 442 meant from 1965 up. When they answer 4 barrel, 4 speed, dual exhaust, ask them how an automatic or 3 speed manual was possible. Lets not even get into the 72 and up designations.
I will never forget the cruise night on West Colfax when some drunken fool wanted to fight me because I wouldn't admit that my 70 442 was actually a Challenger with a custom hood. All drunk and crazy pissed. Want to guess what he was riding in?.... 70 Blue putzstang. One the reasons that I have always stood strong as an Oldsmobile guy. Always will.
So, since this is Classic Oldsmobile I guess the Admins should only allow people to be here who are "all-in" 100% Oldsmobile owners, collectors and restorers?? Anything less would be unloyal! What say admins? I've liked Oldsmobiles since the 60's when we'd get our Mom to put the tranny in "S" on our 1959 88 and nail it to burn rubber out on our street! I loved driving my little brother's 1970 442 W-30 4 speed! That thing had "big b*alls"! But then, I've only owned 2 Oldsmobile in my life so maybe I should be booted from this site since I have owned and currently own and like other makes?? A lot of us will be gone! And, the poll specifically asked about non Oldsmobiles! LOL

Maybe there should be a thread called Pissing Contest. Then all you guys that want to **** and moan could post whatever you like. It is amazing how many of these threads turn into pissing contests. Totally unnecessary.
It started right after the first post.....LOL! There is a winner! LOL!
