Took a hard rock off my hood (pics of damage)

So I was out enjoying a nice drive on Monday. Was passing a gravel truck going the other way when I heard a huge bang on the roof of my car.

Made me sick to see the damage:

Not familiar with getting dents out of old cars. I'm hoping that they can easily repair the dent and I assume that they'll have to repaint the hood. Ugh. The paint is 11 years old but super shiny - I just had the car ceramic coated.

How bad is this and is it easily fixable?

I hate it when that happens.

Had the same kinda thing happen to me last year, but it was a branch instead of a rock. I had just gotten the whole car painted 2 months prior too. What insurance do you have? I'm with American Collectors. They are a subsidiary of USAA. When it happened to me, I just sent them photos and an estimate from my local body shop. Three days later, it was in there getting fixed. No deductible. They paid for the whole thing. Looks good as new.

Hope they don't give you to hard of a time. Good luck.

That really sucks,I can tell you from first hand experience it won't be an easy fix if done right .I had similar damage to my roof due to my front grill breaking away and denting the top of the car.my insurance company (hagerty) sent and appraiser out and i had it repaired by a very good shop .Cost nearly 4000.00 they repaired the dent (not just filled with filler), and painted the entire roof down the rear sail panels and quarter panels and replaced the dented windshield chrome.was first class job ,no deductible and no trouble with Hagerty. Its hard not to obsess over this stuff but you'll get it fixed and move on .Good luck with it, let us know how it turns out .

Appreciate the feedback guys. Was not even thinking of going the insurance route but it sounds like I may have to call Hagerty tomorrow. It pains me to look at the dent but I just want it fixed right as the car is mint otherwise.

I'd go the insurance route if you can.

Appreciate all the replies. I took y'all's advice and filed a claim with Hagerty's. They consider it a comprehensive claim so there's no deductible. Looks like they're going to have to pull all the trim and repaint the roof and the quarter panels. The one challenge is that it's a single stage paint so hopefully they can match it perfectly still.
