Hi All
I wanted to share an idea that I've found to be helpful. Since we're in an election year we'll see a lot of corrugated plastic signs for different candidates. After the election, if someone doesn't plan to run again or if the appearance of the sign isn't good they'll be tossed. I'm a bit of a political junkie and have contacts within the local party. When they were cleaning out the old signs I had a chance to snag some... like a lifetime supply! I think the big signs are 4'X8' and I have wrapped fenders, quarter panels, and just large packages with them. Then the smaller ones I've used to line cardboard boxes for heavy items like rear end carriers or brake parts. They are much stronger than cardboard but will easily cut with a razor knife. So for those of you who have or plan to ship large or heavy items you might contact your local campaign offices to see if they have any signs they're throwing out.
Great tip John! I hoard boxes & shipping tubes & I'll have to add these to the mix.
There is a local junkyard that buys & sells parts & they will give you all the used bubble wrap you want. I go there on occasion & come home with 5-7 trash bags full of the stuff. I've had to have saved thousands by doing stuff like that.
Good suggestions. I don't know if they are considered "archival" or not, but I've also used them to mount photographic prints. Any application should be better than sending them to the land fill.
