Think tank time ....

I would love some brain storming from the collective here...I need a creative way to store/hang 3 hoods in my garage...one is painted. Ceilings are about 10 ft.

I was thinking hanging them vertically from the rafters via slim rope through the hinge points and hooks into the rafters.

Ideas?

You can use the hinge bolts to hook on.

I think it was in this group here,I seen one guy who removed the top portion of some old hinges he had.
Bolted one end to the hood and left the other end over hanging and used the holes on the other side to hang the hood from his garage wall.

Leave bolts in, use large zip ties, hang vertical.

You can hang them vertical as others have said or if you need the space can hang them flat. Put some eye bolts into the rafters and use 2 or 3 heavy duty ratchet strap across the hood. This will tuck them close to the rafters. The painted one wrap in a moving blanket to protect it. Use 2 or 3 people to help raise or lower them.

Hanger for the hood on the back side.

My spare hood hanging on the wall.
My ceilings are much higher but if you can slide them up through the rafters ? but they may still hang to low. I made a hanger by cutting a piece of c channel (about 3 inch ) so it would fit into the square slot on the underneath side of the hood. Drilled a 3/8 hole on the opposite side of what fits into the hood and ran a carriage bolt through a good 2x4 about 18” long. Deck screws hold the wood to the wall and a good friend to help you lift them.
Worked better than the first try which was just a lag bolt through the steel into the wood. That’s how it got the damage at the back of the drivers “ racing stripe ”.
