If I had $500 to hang up for a month or two, I'd hit the Buy-It-Now right now, but the ol' lady's overseas, and Heaven knows what she'll try to buy.
The eBay price is clearly $500, so as far as EBay is concerned, the first person to hit the button gets the car. If the guy refuses to let it go, it's an eBay beef, and he'll get dinged and the buyer will get his money back.

"one of a kind collectible
1963 oldsmobile dynamic-88 holiday
the car is in great condition looks & drives like new
must see
all in good working condition
no rust
the price is $17995
we can deliver it to you
$500 is the deposit to hold the car for you"
Sounds like skating around ePay fees to me
They will take exception to that.
