Texas Junkyards

My ever patient wife is in the Dallas area for the weekend. Are there any boneyards in the area that have Toronados?
She would ( believe it!) go looking for parts for me..
Ps. She's forgotten more about cars than many of us know..

Dallas salvage yards

I have not been to either, but you may want to try County Line Classics http://oldcarpart.com/ in Red Oak, south of Dallas, or CTC Auto Ranch http://ctcautoranch.com/ in Denton north of Dallas. They both specialize in classic cars.

CTC Ranch site

CTC's got a pretty cool website. 9 different panoramic views of their "Virtual Auto Ranch".

I've gotta tell you, I'd love to spend 3 or 4 hours on a hot sunny day to wonder around that place. Lots and lots to see there!

Texas used to be reasonable - now they all think they've gold, if someone 'Up North' needs it!

Here's what happened to "reasonable" in Texas........I'm in Austin, Tx and the availabilty of older part cars has dwindled to next to nothing compared to 15 years ago. Back in the 80's and early 90's cars of the 60's and 70's were every where. The weekly Austin Police Dept abandoned vehicle sale averaged about 100 cars a week selling at an average bid of 50-75 dollars apiece. Lots of sales I'd buy 10-15 cars per auction. I bought many SS396's GTO's, 442's, and GS's, several H/O's. big block fullsize Chevrolets, Firebirds, you get the idea.

Now cars of the 80's are the oldest you can expect to find around here. The weekly APD pound sale rarely has more the a dozen of so cars and the worst of them will sell for at least 350 dollars.

Being "Up North" has nothing to do with it. As Rob pointed out, we pay the same outrageous prices. It becomes supply and demand and while the demand has increased, the supply has decreased.

CLC was great several years ago when it was a pull-yourself yard with junkyard-level pricing! I walked out with a bunch of neat stuff for only 50 bucks.
It has since changed management or something, so it is different now (or so I heard by another member who went there often).
