Question Is this tag worth preserving?

I want to clean and paint the upper radiator support (I think that's what it is called) It's not very readable...

No. It doesn't have any info specific to your car only & is available reproduction.

Call me eccentric, but I disagree with you guys. I would much rather have an original ANYthing which shows its age than a shiny new reproduction anything. If the label were 2/3 missing and completely illegible, sure, replace it. But I like the way yours is.

I agree. I left the kinda ratty tire pressure decal in my glove box because the repro was the wrong size and had the wrong font. I liked the original better even if it was showing its age.

It looks like crap. You are not gonna miss it. When you open the hood, first thing you see is that hideous thing that used to be decal 40 something years ago.
Mac, build the car the way you want it. Don't worry about what people say and think. Everybody has a different opinion on these things. It's your car make sure that YOU like it.
It would be way too boring if we all did the same thing.

Oh I just didn't want to hear "hey, that was worth a bazilion dollars" after I removed it. Meh, mostly I was just thinking out loud.

Sounds like I opened a can of worms. Sorry fellas.
Thing is; that decal was flaking away in a strong breeze. I don't think there would have been much of it left after a good drive. Let's put this one to bed, yeah?

Hey Macadoo! Why bother painting your radiator top plate if your going to leave an emissions/tune up decal that has more wrinkles than your grandfathers *****? It is your car and you can do what you please, but I have never heard anyone complaining about a non-original tune up decal. (Plus they are extremely affordable/cheap)

OH NO, don't paint over the original paint on your radiator top plate its worth...................... absolutely nothing! But if you do then its worth .99cents worth of spray bomb spray paint! Its a win, win, lose, win, lose situation.

In my opinion, a restored car is restored, an original is original. Don't put new decals on a survivor; don't leave bad decals on a full restoration.

Did you replace any other completely worn out original parts, like bearings and gaskets? Tires, windshield, grilles, bushings, uhpolstery, carpet, fuel, oil, light bulbs, brakes/hardware and or maybe considering a damn air fiIter? Let's roll!

You're not supposed to be able to read it, Ron.
Mike has all of his images slightly blurred, scrambled, cut off, or angled, so that you can't just download them and make your own.

Wouldn't it be engine/trans specific? Looks like his says OB at the top right corner of the original.

Yes, and readily available repro.
It isn't specific to that VIN.

Aw man! And I wanted to save the $7 by spending $20 on decal paper and ink that will run when it's wet. Some people are just no fun
