A tad surprised to see a 70-442 W30 vert

Sell for $170k plus fees at B-J Palm Beach auction on Saturday evening. Ext color was a pale yellow, white hood stripes and parchment int. Car is a his/hers auto trans. Also, one of the Motor Trend guys discussing the car coming across the block claimed that on 70-442 W30's the "ram air scoops were an option". I do not believe that the W25 hood was ever an option on 70-442 W30's, those were standard on W30's. Car was super nice, just thought that was a bit high sls price. There were several people bidding on the car.

There were 3 nice Oldsmobiles at BJ(see above pics). The 2 black/red ones were from Troy Thornton, They were both color changes(both were born green). They were both gorgeous frame off restorations. The '68 brought $126,500. The W31 sold for $61,600 & the Sebring W30(with the optional ram-air hood,LOL) sold for $187,000. These prices included the buyers fees. The sad part is take away the fees & the W31 sold in the low $50s, you couldn't restore it for that. It's such a shame that these rare cars just don't bring the $$$.

Troy does absolute incredible work. What's more incredible that in a world (and car hobby) full of nauseating ego's, Troy is one of the most gentle, humble, and nicest people you will ever meet. I stop by his Quakertown PA shop on occasion, and always leave feeling like I've just spent time with a good friend.
