T.V. Coverage for Barrett-Jackson + Mecum 2014

For informational purposes only . Just to keep it interesting , all auction coverage is on new networks this year . Starting with Mecum :
ALL coverage will be on 1 of 2 channels . NBC SN ( Referred to as NBC Sports Network ) OR , the Esquire Channel . They start Fri. Jan17th and go through Sun. Jan. 26 , all from Kissimmee FL . 12 Auctions this year , total of 125 hours . I get this coverage with my ( *** Cable ) basic HD Cable package . On to Barrett - Jackson .
Barrett - Jackson , begins on Tuesday Jan 14th , and coverage for Tues , Wed , Thurs is 5 - 7 pm Fox Sports 2 : 7 - 9 pm Fox Business . Friday it gets complicated . 12 - 3 and 5 - 7 Fox Sports 1 , 3 - 5 pm Fox sports 2
7 - 10 pm Fox Business . Stranger yet , Sat , Regular Fox 1 - 3 pm , AND then to National Geographic 3 - 10 pm . Sun Fox Sports 2 , 12 - 3 pm ,
and Fox Sports 1 , 3 - 5 pm...
So for me , I get ZERO Fox Sports 2 , and Zero Fox Business . Zero B - J coverage for Tues - Thurs . Friday 2 , 2 hr. segments on Fox Sports 1 .
Saturday , I'm good . Sunday 3 - 5 pm .
It comes down to Zero Fox Sports 2 or Fox Business , from my cable provider . AGAIN , this is only for the Masochist's that enjoy the variety , and hour by hour valuation from such an adventure .

IF , any of you are still with me , my next thread will be on why I do NOT care if B- J is snubbing me this year . SO I will be there for 6 - 8 hours per day , for 12 days . Taking pictures , LISTENING TO THE STORIES , watching the horror unfold before my eyes .
Respectfully , Jim .

Great stuff Jim, thanks! This info will come in very handy when setting the DVR...especially with Mecum changing networks.

Sounds like a great idea to bring a very well defined, desirable, decision making affluent level of viewers to networks that they might not otherwise ever watch.

Sure.

They might succeed with a percentage of the dedicated viewers that they are trying to retain, but they will lose some to this network switching b.s. during the day. And, I'll bet home viewership in general is probably close to reaching its' peak (think NASCAR) and not a lot more people who watch the Esquire network will turn into auction junkies.

Of course, I could be wrong about all of this.

Do we know who the announcers will be on the Mecum coverage? I liked those four guys on Velocity.

DVR stet on FF during this drunken bidfest. Stopping only to see how high this stuff goes. This car went for 1.7 million dollars. Wow!! Not at BJ though. I think it went at RM.

I used to like the auctions on tv, BJ auctions now have become a manhood measuring device to see who can spend the most stupid money on an old car. And the Mecum auction is more about mindless yammering about non relevant stuff instead of the details about the particular car. I'm getting bored with it.

The part I hate the most is when the helper or whatever you call him, screams like a friggin banshee when his bidder ups his bid. I want to punch that guy. Show some decorum. Chasing Classic Cars Wayne Carini takes his stuff to RM and another I can't think of at the moment that treat the audience as polite gentlemen instead of a barn dance. I like that atmosphere much better. They are not televised however.

Here's another of my friends Mopars. This one is a Ragtop 440 Six-Pack 4 Speed Car. It was at the same show. They had it in the lobby as you entered. Gorgeous. The second one is a 1 of 29 440 Six Pack 4 Speed. Look at the color combo of that! Wow and Ugh! He was adamant I see this one. I think he liked it the most.

To NOT hijack my coverage thread . I'm gonna start one on purely the 4 , 1970 , W- 30 cars being offered on Friday . There are only 26 Oldsmobile's
being offered in total @ B - J .

He had at one time 4, yes 4, W-30 convertible 4 speed cars. Three completely restored and one survivor car complete with bird's nests in the front lower quarters. I believe he has sold them all. Here is a pic of one displayed at the MCACN two years ago. I said to him that the color must have been very rare and he said that color was actually very common at the time. All you see nowadays is red, black, dark blue. High performance colors if you will. They did an article in the July 2008 issue of Muscle Car Enthusiast on his collection. Pretty cool.

My wife calls these auctions "Testosterone Rodeos". I do enjoy watching them, though, but it baffles me where all these people come up with all that money. To me, it's mind boggling.

Do you know him Diego? He is a very honest, outgoing, sort. I knew him when our business was a good trade. Haven't seen him in a while. Nice guy, great cars, great attitude. Another one of his Mopars.

back when barrett Jackson first came on speed dad and I used to to watch it and he always said there are not bidding with real money. they are acting like that for tv ratings. you see my dad bought me a 1970 chevelle ss396 4 speed all original for 1500.00 back in 1985 and he thought that was too much im glad my mother talked him into for me. by the way I still have that car. I wish I still had him

Recently at the end of the last Kansas City Mecum, the announcers mentioned the change to NBCSN. I got the impression they are all back.
