Super Charger

I'll place an ad in the parts wanted but I'm curious how rare a Blower intake is to fit a 6-71 to a 455. I have lot's of desirable parts to sell or trade to get this manifold. Just trying to figure out how much of the farm I'll need to sell off to get what I want. Any info or insight on this would be very appreciated.

BDS makes them by welding a plate to an Offy dual quad intake. Real ones are extremely rare - long out of production Sharp and Mickey Thompson manifolds.

Thank you for the advice. I always try to buy speed parts second hand - to me it's more fun to find that kind of treasure. I have an Offy dual quad - I wonder if BDS sells just the plate as welding the aluminum is no problem. I'll check the hampton site too. It's a Hampton 6-71 I'm trying to get running.

there are things you just cant buy used and weird blower manifolds are one..they just didnt make many to begin with..good thing..they prob made more Olds than any other off brand GM because of boats..455s in boats where big business..

i'm on the hunt for one for a buick nail head for a 53 studebaker project...talk about hitting the wall..

you can call Hamptons, and that dude will talk you ear off..a real hot rodder..and a good good guy..he prob would love to hear about your project since its his supercharger

I checked out the Hampton site. Olds blower intake is $1350.00 It's good to have a new price so now "If" I do come across the elusive piece I'll know what a fair deal is. Your project sounds awesome. Mines a 65 F-85 post car 4 spd. I have an Offy Tunnel that I could run on it but just really want a blower. I mean - who doesn't ? The Hampton 6-71 came on a Ford 460. I have that intake. Maybe I'll cut it up and put it together with an Offy dual quad that's just getting dusty on the shelf.

drive location/spacing is important..think it through..then think it thru some more

cal R&P Blower in waterloo Iowa..he is an olds guy..and he will telll you everything you will run into..youll have to modify your harmonic balancer and he can do that, and he will help get you close enough you can do the plate thing

theres a plate on ebay for 125 bux

i wouldnt cut up an intake to try it..sell the ford, and buy an olds 2x4..ive seen them, for 125 bux, just shop around..if you have a 2x4 youre closer than you think

every fabrication guy on the planet will say buy everything off the shelf you can and modify that..keep it simple, so you dont get lost in the build
