Stupid question. Be gentle

I have a cutlass 350 with 7a heads. And a 600 edelbrock, duel exhaust. And about to put on a 2711 intake on. The guy down the street has c heads off a 455. He is selling for cheap. Is it a good idea to put this on my car. What can I expect? If it's a good idea what do you guys recommend. Ect

Nope, you don't want to do that. C heads are big block heads and even though they will bolt up to the 350 block that will make your compression go way down. Unless you do a lot of work on the C heads they will not be an improvement for your setup. But if the price is good you might consider getting them for trade stock. John

Yeah, if they weren't cracked I'd snag them for that price. But then again, I'm an admitted Olds addict and will scan Craigslist looking for Olds parts to drag home.

Valve covers included? Kind of hard to see with the shadow, but valve covers on big blocks used in the Cutlass/442 bodies are "notched" Check out this thread for photos of what that looks like.

https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...vers-sale.html

If they're not pitted the valve covers might be worth more than the purchase price. In addition, the breather looks like the early style. If these are 1967 heads they will have a stamp on the end of one head. If that stamp starts with a V then it was a 442 application. If it does that would add to the value of the head. John

Here's an example of the stamp on the end of one head.

Those are early C's. see the small cross over port...

Worth 50 bucks if crack free. Just not for a 350 though, no gain with that swap.

They are '67 heads. See the "AIR" plugs in the heads.

The valve covers are worth $50. Pick up the heads, keep the valve covers and use the heads for trade or resell them.

A heads were 65 and B were 66. C heads were 67-69 with D heads being W30 in 68 and 69. 1970 got E and F while 1971 got G and H. 72 went to GA and then 73-76 were J only on street car engines with K and KA heads being used on marine and equipment applications.

I'm pretty sure I got that right. Please feel free to correct me if I missed something.

Sold

When what zip are they being shipped too?

https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums/parts-sale/99078-stock-valve-covers.html

J/K but as you can see, stock non-notched valve covers aren't worth $50, not sure if they are even with $15.... Lol

C heads in any form except "cracked" are certainly worth $50 though.

BTW I thought only A-bodies got notched valve covers. Big cars were not notched because they didn't need the clearance from the A/C or brake booster.

Ah, I should have seen that At the edge of the shadow it looks to me like there's a notch in that valve cover. If they were 1967 V code heads then I believe there should be one notched cover. So... if that's true its a good deal at $50 If the OP purchases them he'll have to fill in all these if's John

67 442 heads are V#####G, I believe. Turnpike Cruiser 400s were V#####.
