to Stripe or not to Stripe

Really trying to decide if I should go with a solid color or to add the racing stripes. Open to opinions

I hadn't thought about that. So just lighten the color and have inlay stripes?

I am not sure exactly how they do it but from my understanding they change the shade a hair or add metallic to change it up so you get the gost maybe a member with paint back ground will chime in

Copper cutlass has the ghost stripes on his car they look sweet, maybe he can comment on how he did them.

Olds usually has only hood stripes, chevelles have trunk stripe

I like stripes too, if you don't go with an original scheme the ghost stripe looks great. Either way I also agree no stripe on deck lid unless its the pin stripe along the bottom

The ghost stripe idea sounds interesting but I personally prefer solid color with the hood louvers. Don't know your plans for the car, but no stripes or factory style stripes (no ghost or trunk stripes) are best if resale is in your future. Originality is much easier to sell than custom. You know what they say about opinions and make it what you want in the end.

Thanks guys for all the input. I don't plan on reselling the car but would like the option down the line. So I want to keep it somewhat like the originals but updated look hence the paint. Hadn't thought about the fact that the trunk lid shouldn't be striped.

Wow, I always thought that that the stripe ran all the way the way down.

Personal taste is the only reason to put stripes or not put stripes on your trunk lid.

After all thousands of SS Chevelles and Z28 Camaros and a handfull of 65-66 442's received them and looked good to me.

I added them to a 65 Corvair Monza, 66 Corsa convert and a 69 BelAir 2dr I owned. Although not everyone likes them you can tell I liked them.

I really think I want the stripes. I won't put themnonnthe trunk lid though. I'm a fan of both and as suggested I guess it just boils down to my personal preference. Here's a pic so far before the painted stripes go on.

Completely personal taste, but I striped up my 69 vert. I used factory colors and stripe concept with my own twist. I did 442 stripes on the hood, an HO stripe on the trunk lid and HO stripes on the lower rockers and a hockey, not like the HO convertable quarter stripe. It kinda looks like the Holiday Coupe stripe on the side. I agree I do not like the twin stripes on the trunk lid but a factory type mark does a fine job of breaking up the rear.

It's your own personnel taste like others have said. It's your car do it how you want. My preference is no stripes on the trunk unless it's a pace car or 72 h/o or a clone of one of those. I also don't like the look of the spoiler on a convertible or w30 stripes on hardtop supreme.

It was an original 72 color Saturn Gold Iridescent
There is a lot of metallic in the paint and really pops in bright sunlight. Also changes hues in different light.
