Is it possible to get a W-30 or W31 without the stripes on the hood and side from the factory?

 

People have claimed it was possible.I'm sure someone who has done this will chime in with more clarification.

 

Yes, stripe delete was possible. The code did not appear on the standard order form, but any dealer worth his salt knew what to do.

There was a stripe-delete W-30 at the Nationals in Dearborn. It was a beautiful restoration, but it had paperwork, old photos, and even previous owners present -- all validating the stripe delete.

In '68 Y74 is the code for the delete paint stripe option, this thread shows a '68 window sticker with it.

If you search online there's a '67 442 with the same code, the '69 optional equipment code list also shows it. In 1970 the code turned into the Indy Pace Car option so it beats me what they did then.
