i have scrubed my steering wheel more times than i can count. every time it will go a couple weeks and will be sticky again. is the wheel bad or what do i do? it is the sport wheel in my rallye 350. i have an extra wheel and it is the same way.

That's the plasticizer leeching from the plastic and there isn't much you can do about it. My horn pad is like that and I just lightly cleaned it with mild soap and water and use Lemon Pledge and the worst goes away for a few weeks but it is still slightly tacky. Maybe somebody else here has a way that works better? I sell old toys and I wish I could find a way to get rid of it, some do it bad and others don't? I think in some it has something to do with heat, a lot of toys were stored in hot attics.

I don't do Barbie, I only sell manly kid toys.

Correct, its what makes the plastic flexible. Barbie is probably made from PVC and depending on the age of the dolll its probably dehp. It will leech until the plasticizer is gone and the more it leeches the more rigid it becomes.

I've been in the plastics business a long time. I have yet to come across a way to stop it.

It's a common problem and comes up frequently:

Can it be sealed with clear coat? I don't mean the rattle can type but the good stuff used on paint jobs. Just an idea!
