I'm thinking June 1st 1977?
7=year?
f=month?
1= day

Let me know if I'm doing this wrong.

My 1970 starter was 1108389 so I'll assume that a higher number (8470 in this case) is a later model?

June 1st is right. I'm guessing it could also be 1967, too.
