Spring Carlisle 2023

It's that time again. We'll be in spaces NA12-NA15, right across from the bathrooms near Gate 3. We'll be arriving Tues afternoon and leaving late Saturday. Stop by if you get a chance. I've actually got some Olds stuff to unload this time, including a chrome BBO oil pan, some valve covers, and a square-bore O4B intake.

Spring Carlisle = Weather Flip-Flops. Saying dry but almost 90 degrees for Thursday, always a fun time and no snow burst like last year.

Chance of rain Saturday, so Thurs/Fri will likely be the big days, crowd-wise. Heading out after lunch today.

I will spend tomorrow afternoon searching for some black seat belts for my 64 F85. Also some other misc. pieces. The weather is supposed to be sunny and upper 60’s. I hope!

Thanks guys, I did in fact buy front seat belts from the gentleman you guys mentioned. I hope that I can make them work. I stopped by Joe’s spot to show him what I bought, he said they look like 68-72. We shall see if I can make them work on my 64 F85.

I also bought a set of his belts.
He had a set of red club coupe standard belts for 65 that were gorgeous…
Although he swore that they were only meant for a 66 chebby.😁

Well gentlemen and ladies,
Carlisle was packed to the max today… Carlisle has to be ecstatic at how much admission money they took in today…..

The buying was strong from some , but I would estimate that 80 % of the people that were here today were “ strolling through the park “ ….

Empty hands, Empty Back Packs, Empty Wagons ( except for their cooler ), etc.,etc….. It really makes one wonder why they would spend gas , possibly tolls, parking fee, and gate admission, and time to simply be able to say
” I went to Carlisle “….

Got to run …. See ya’ tomorrow….

Had a good time at Carlisle today. Didn’t buy much, wasn’t looking for much. But it was good to get some sun and not be at work. Saw a couple olds in the car corral. Saw a very cool Buick sun coupe, here’s some pics of the olds.

Yep just got back, the fun is in the hunt. Pedometer says we walked 12 miles today. So yes found a 67 fender cap with chrome, 66 B body nos hood lip molding, met a guy who brought my Ebay purchased 66 98 chrome trunk molding. Bought some repro 67 tail light bezels from Fusick. A 5 dollar 59 Olds fuel pump. My buddies also found some Olds parts and we passed on other parts used and NOS. Very productive day for us all! Then it was fun seeing the cars for sale. This is why we do the swaps and a day away from work the weather was beautiful.

Craig I have bought from you when I need the mechanical parts you sell, nothing needed so we didnt stop, saw you were busy with a customer. Our mission is to complete the swap in one day. We start at 7 finish around 5 and at this point vendors are already covering their parts, in other words we for sure just keep moving. When we do Hershey in the fall sometimes we split rows just so we can finish in one day.

Because its a cheap date. Many locals go to Carlisle, there are 500000 people in the area.
Get there early, come in back way, park free on the street or at a friends house. Fun way to spend a few hours for just the price of a ticket.

I didn't make it this Spring. I typically don't find much that I have a need for, but primarily its nice to be outdoors for a car event after the long Winter. I enjoy seeing friends and strolling through the Car Carrol. Unfortunately there seems to be an ever increasing population of "not for sale late model pickup trucks". Apparently they're using it for inside the gate parking. I wish this practice would be discouraged.

Joe - I'm looking forward to installing that 04B on my 442. I picked up some engine paint from Fusick, now I just need the Edelbrock carb. and valley pan gasket.

I think most of those trucks are vendors who unload and park away from their spots so they have more floor space...

I was there today. Big crowd for sure.. i spent my budget and then some!

This was probably the best show for me personally in a LONG time. I actually found some stuff I need…and some stuff that was just cool for the 65’s.
I’m not sure but it probably hasn’t been this packed since the 2000’s possibly?
(The NOS tail pipe and scoop did not come home with me, just sharing)

GREAT show! By the time I arrived, the National Guard Armory parking lot was full! And there was a long line, just to get in! Haven's seen that in 20 years or so! Hope the vendors did as well as the gate. I didn't buy much, since I still am not sure what I am missing for my project, but I had a fun day, none the less.

Consensus among the vendors seems to be one of the better weeks in recent memory. I certainly did much better selling than at any previous Spring Carlisle.

At 11 : 09, I am packed up completely… I would normally stay open , but with the medical episode I am dealing with, I had to hire my friends’ kid to pack up for me, and I had to have him help me now —- he has 3 more packing up jobs to go do —- and he knows he is going to get wet… It is good to see a young enterprising man taking the opportunity to make some money, eh?…

The wind is picking up —- 15 to 20 mph, gusts up to 30 and more —- place is pretty crowded for sure, vendors are probably down to 50 % from the 98 % —- with more packing as I type… skies still look “ okay “….

The r event is any time after 1 : 00 until 10 : 00 P.M. tonight, with a possible
2 “ expected…. Yeesh…..

First raindrops started at 1:38 P.M. , no drisel direct to rain, it is 2:04 now, and it is already HEAVY, Continuous, and the sky is all Gray…
Supposed to continue until 10:00 P.M. ……

Long, Long Line to get out of here —- every patron that was here is Gone….

Reporting Live from Carlisle, Pa., Yours, Craig….

Spring Carlisle 2023

Thanks for the reports! Sounds like a good time was had by all. My cousin from Hagerstown, who I've recently reconnected with, sent pictures and updates throughout the show. Wish was already retired, and had the time, am located three long hard days drive, each way.

If you can get spaces and bring some nice dry desert sheetmetal and chrome, daresay you'd make it worth the trip.

We're gonna try to make Fall but as always there's contingencies.

Hope you make it Glenn. As always, we have room for guests to rest and drop purchases.
