Spectra Premium or Tanks Inc.?
I am going to replace my tank in our 1967 442 and going to buy one thru ebay.
The Spectra tank is $166 and free ship.
The Tanks Inc. has the same number and is $150 and free ship and they say they make theirs. ?
Never had dealings with Tanks Inc. Bought Spectra tanks before and like them.
Any suggestions??
Mike

I had good experience with Tanks Inc. Call them and talk to Georgia. She is a sweetheart and they have great customer service. It probably comes down to price. Fusick is supposed to start carring tank but I don't know if they have them yet.

From a quick web search on this topic:
Spectra Premium uses US Steel's 'niterne' material (cold rolled steel) Painting the Spectra Premium fuel tanks isn't required or even recommended. If you wish to paint one of these tanks, you'll need to clean it very carefully to remove an oily film, and then scuff it all over. For best adhesion you really should chemically etch the tank before painting.

I do not want to hijack this thread, but I recently purchased a new gas tank from InlineTube. It was dropped shipped from the supplier. I suspect it is a Spectra. The part number is OGM37G. Once installed I immediately noticed the neck with cap barely sticks out past the back of the rear frame. Unfortunately, of the thousands of pictures I took during tear down, not one is of this area. Now I am a bit nervous. The old rusted out tank was mistakenly trashed by someone other than me. So I have nothing to compare to.
I measured the new neck. From the welded/soldered joint it is right at 7" long. How does this match up to any of you out there? This is for my 67 442.
