I thought about the 375, but its a light duty 400 as far as parts are considered.

There is also the 375B, with is a heavy duty 350. Other than maybe valve body calibration the only “heavy duty” upgrade is the thinner direct clutch piston that allows for the installation of 5 clutch discs over the factory 4. Anyone with a lathe can duplicate the piston. I have done it on brake drum lathes, talk about low buck!!!

IF, & I say IF, he has a th375 transmission in his car it definitely did not come from the factory. The only automatic options available that year were th350 or th400. The only stripe must have been on the beer he was drinking.....

There was a TH375, which was a TH400 case with light duty internal parts and the small (TH350 size) output shaft. This trans was only used behind the 350 motor in heavy cars, namely the Vista and the Delta 88. The TH375 only came in a long-tail version.

There was also a TH375B, which was a HD version of the TH350 and used the TH350 case.

Neither of these transmissions was ever used in a 442.

You can rebuild your transmission, which is the way I would go. You can put in some nice performance parts like hardened hard parts and a shift kit. Its a glorified 350, I have the 375 in my delta. its a 350 with a long tail. Fatsco trans parts stocks a lot of the antique transmission parts.
