Apologizing in advance?

Nobody ever apologized, before decking me one
Why not search nearby boneyards for a modern Land Rover 8, instead? It's an easier swap and you don't have to mess with altering the suspension to take a heavy cast iron unit. These engines are plenty powerfull for a light compact car

I think you'll find a great deal of power from this swap look for the 1968-1970 350 block with high comp pistons if you want the best stock engine

Thats much easier said than done. The Land Rover suggestion is a much better idea.

he is saying the engine is fine, just the trans is a P.O.S.
but the idea of the Rover engine and trans would be a good idea.
the only thing, I believe the Rover's are 4 wd, so the trans needs a extension housing set up for the slip yoke. At least I think that is what is needed.

If going with the iron blocks either chubby or Olds, suspension and brakes will need work. With the T-350, the trans tunnel may need some work to fit.
Plus some work to get a bigger radiator in. JMO

No need to go Rover tranny. I assume he's got one of these dinosauers. They shifted smooth. But, were even less durable than the normal Hydramatic:

...When considering using this transmission in older classic cars or non-GM cars, it would be easiest to find one with the Chevrolet bellhousing bolt pattern. This is because engine-to-transmission adapter kits to attach the Chevy bolt pattern are available for:
o Buick nailhead V-8
o Ford FE and small-block
o Ford 429, 460 and flathead
o Lincoln 337-cu.in. flathead
o Studebaker V-8
o Mopar big- and small-block V-8s
o 1954-1959 Mopar Hemi and Polysphere V-8
o Early Cadillac 346-cu.in. and 1955-1964 V-8
o Pontiac and Buick straight-eight
o Buick 215-cu.in. aluminum V-8

350/350

First of all thanks for all of the replies. I had problems with my new phone and wasn't able to respond. But the good news is I'm not going 350/350. After more research I have decided to get a bell housing converter from D and D Fabrications to make a TH200 Transmission bolt onto my 215. The reason I was sorry about the 350/350 thing is because I did not want to cut my car. Thanks Again 1962 Cutlass in Kansas.
