Something to play with for a month or two.
Well I have never owned a Mercury other than the mini-van I just bought my wife. Its looks like tonight I will be adding another. I am picking up a 69 Cougar that has been sitting 7-8 years and is in bad need of TLC. I have always owned GM classic cars (except my 40 Ford street rod but it was Chevy powered) so I will be heading out into uncharted waters on this one.

Richard,
I've owned one Ferd in my life and I will give you the same advice my dear old departed Dad gave me when I got my New 1970 LTD.
"Son I know you're used to driving Chveys, Buicks, and Oldsmobiles. But when a Ford says E it means E you can't drive 20 more miles on an empty tank like with a GM car."
I ran out of gas in that thing 5 times before I learned it was true.

I have owned two ferds in my life. the first was a 32 chopped and channeled 32 5 window with a full race flatty, the other was a 55 ford crown vic. Liked the 32, hated the 55, My girl friend (now my wife) had a 63 ford and it was a slug. Sorry not a ferd man at all. Well maybe one of few shelby mustangs

I have a 69 Cougar, follow the link under my signature. I love my Cougar, it is a great cruiser.
Be sure to check the torque boxes especially the drivers side for rust thru.

Ahhh......yes....the car that got me into my first car accident in 1993 in Pensacola Florida.
Took a 1986 z28 for a test drive, and saw the car I was having problems finding just out
of the corner of my eye........and took my eyes off the road. BANG.....that sucked.
I've always liked them. First cars I remember having the sequential turn signals.
I'm sure there were others.

I have always liked the early Cougars. This is another car I could easily keep if I was wealthy but it will have to go after I tinker with it for a while. Its been sitting for 7-8 years. I hope to be able to buy all my copper hard lines to plumb the new shop for air. I better hurry copper is going up almost as fast as gas right now.
Its home now but it was dark last night and this morning before I left work.

I came home for a few minutes in the daylight to check on the contractors for my building. This is what I am starting with.

Reminds me of school days "scooping the loop" downtown in my friends 69 cougar, it was even the same color, we had a lot of fun! Some we can even talk about. LOL
As for Fords, we had a 65 mustang for a a year that was fun and we doubled our money on it, would have kept it but didn't have the time or money to work on it. Dad and Granddad had fits as they were both GM salesmen but oh well.

i to don't hate older fords,
my brother in law just bought him a ford torino from 1970.
He is realy happy with it and it is a good looking car,
so we (my friends and i) just completed the big 3 GM Mopar and Ford.
a 1969 olds 88, a 69 dodge charger, chrysler 300, buick le sabre, buick special, chevy corvette (tuby ware), and jep a ford torino.
So it is a nice bunch together if we go and drive around
Hate to say that my newer ford is nothing but trouble, maybe becouse it is build in turkey
