Thanks guys. I have limited space, so I can only do one car at a time. I have been looking for a 65 or 67 for quite some time. This looked to be a pretty good one, so I decided to grab it. I was able to get the switch for the torque converter cleaned up and working. It appears to be working as it should, although I may look into putting a turbo 350 in it down the road sometime. Also the original carb was replaced with a remanufactured one, doesn’t have the plugs to replace the main jets. Overall it’s very solid with lots of originality. I just put it in winter storage, so I’ll have to wait for next spring to start picking away at it and of coarse driving it as I go.
This is my third “442”. I bought the first one, a 1970 around 1973 for the monstrous sum of fifteen hundred dollars. It was very well warn. It got t-boned shortly afterwords. The next one was a 67. Sold it to a friend three years later. When I was around 13 years old a neighborhood guy bought a new 65 and put a set of cragars on it, I was hooked! Took me sixty years to get one!
