So Frustrated!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry just need to vent. So I decide that before I put the front sheet metal on and engine in my 62 88 I'm going to blow all the suspension out of it, blast it and paint it. Luckily I didn't push the rear trailing arm bushings out, because those would have cost me about $800. Missed a bullet there.
Well, I get the fronts suspension all apart after I check for availability and price of A-arm bushings. NAPA has them available, perfect. I order them up and decide to get ahead of the game and push the old ones out and get the blasting and painting done. For some reason the machine shop decided to remove the upper ball-joints toasting one of them. They said they would take care of it. I had been looking for them for weeks and no one in the nation had them. Luckily, after 2 solid days of looking they found a guy that had one in his basement somewhere in B.F.E. Everything was back on track right, hell no. Went to match my bushings up to the a-arm for drop off in the morning. Lowers fit like a glove, perfect. And, Uppers are about a 1/2-inch to small. Cross referanced the NAPA # with what they have on there website thinking that maybe they ordered the wrong ones for me. Nope, that is what they are selling for my car. They do have a set of "Rare Parts" brand that are going to cost me $300 though. The kicker is that the ones that came out weren't that bad, but for $7 NAPA brand I thought why not, I'd use the old ones but they got melted out in the process.
Absolutely steaming right now.

How did they fly those parts from B.F. Egypt throught all that volcanic ash?
What a PITA, but it feels so good when you're finished.
Kanter should have those parts if you're still looking.

Go over to AACA Olds forums http://forums.aaca.org/#oldsmobile-clubs and look for a guy named Oldsfan. Paul has been thru this exact same thing with bushings and may have some insight. He used to show up here once in a while, or DYaros on here may know how to contact him other than a PM.

LOL. I've been telling myself, next time I'll buy a car that I can build out of a catalog. My boss started a 57 Desoto project that is making his hair fall out. If he does find the part he is looking for it cost him 10-times what a 57 chevy would cost. He needed a stock radiator with AC. He found one on ebay, but it was $1,500.
