Shock question

I was originally planning on changing the steering box to low ratio. Looking at the car I see that the shocks are OK, but not the best. I was looking at the Bilstein shocks. But I am unsure of which ones are best for a 69 442. Any suggestions. I am on a limited budget so have to do it one job at a time. Thanks

Bilsteins are high $...I am running KYBs on all 4 corners of my '72 Supreme and am very happy with them. They are a little more expensive than Gabriels or Monroe, but they're worth it.

It really depends on how you drive your car and what mods have been done or plan on doing to improve other aspects of the suspension. If your just cruising around on stock suspension then I would suggest a set of KYB Gas Adjust for an upgrade and spend the difference on other aspects of your car. On my car the KYB rears were around $60 for the pair and the fronts were around $45 for the front pair on Amazon.

When I had KYB's I found them too stiff. Not progressive at all, but it comes down to personal preference. Same car had a quicker ratio steering box. Best Money I ever spent.

I put Bilstein's on the front and Monroe's on the rear of my '71 CS convertible. I have no complaints.

Bilsteins are great shocks, I’ve put the ride height adjustable ones up front on 2 of my trucks to level them out. I know they aren’t for the same application but I feel they were worth the money spent

Look at reviews on the KYBs. I just replaced a new rear pair (zero miles) on a 69 H/O I’ve been working on. One started leaking oil profusely before I ever got it back on the road.

After doing some additional research I found this is not uncommon......
