shipping a motor

Anybody have any ideas on the most economical way to ship a motor from MA to FL?
I got a quote from Old Dominion starting at $648 one way and I was way off on weight I estimated 350lbs when its probably closer to 650.
I tried Fastenal at first but they denied because of forbidden commodity to FL?
I tried Uship and bid down to $435 but I put the weight in at 350 so its probably more and not real comfortable shipping with these guys?

I have found if the engine is in pieces, and shipped as parts, its put in a cheaper shipping class.

I used engineshipping.com years ago and it went very well. They are a freight broker, not the actual shipper.

I just (as in, last week) shipped an NV4500 transmission from MS to MD using Fasenal with no issues.

Scrappie you have been working too diligently on that car and not thinking rationally! Take the family to Florida for a little Disneyworld and bring the engine along for delivery

Yeah just 24hrs of driving with a full car and 650lbs of metal in the back and a slight detour on the way. Oh yeah and do it all over again on way back just a little lighter physically and in the pocket. Not to mention the lost time at work. Gotta be +$400 in gas one way? Maybe $650 to ship doesn't sound that bad now?
8 even 10 hrs and I would do it myself but 24 is too much.

Just FYI, automobile engines are NOT on their "forbidden commodities" list.
