shipping larger car parts
I am parting out a '68 Vista Cruiser and investigating what it would take to ship a fender. Does anyone have experience doing this? I realize just about anything can be boxed or crated up but just wondering what is the best way to go about it and which shipper to use. Do any of the companies make/build boxes suitable for a car fender? I plan on going to UPS and/or Fedex tomorrow but trying to plan ahead.

I don’t believe that Greyhound or Fastenal provide this service anymore. I recently sent an entire fender from Ft Worth to MI via UPS in a form fitted cardboard package sent from a hub. (Not a UPS store). It was not cheap, but my customer was determined. (And ultimately very pleased with the purchase)👍

A couple years ago I got a stack of old political signs given to me. Some are as large as a sheet of plywood. They are made out of what looks like corrugated plastic. A little stiffer but will still wrap fenders and large items well. If you have or had an election recently you might call the local political offices to see if they have any that are not going to be re-used. I agree with the others that Greyhound used to be the most cost effective for shipping fenders, doors and deck lids. But since Covid they no longer offer that service. I thought Fastenal had some sideboards like just the western or just the eastern states. It might be worth a phone call to find out what if anything they still offer. I have put multiple body panels on a large pallet and shipped freight. I've done engines and transmissions that way too. But not sure it would be cost effective for a single fender. I believe Richard Johnson is in your state. He's been transporting cars and some parts as a business now. If he happened to have a trip planned that crossed paths with your buyer he may deliver for you? Don't know, but if he's not hundreds of miles from you it might be worth discussing with him. Good Luck Dan!
