Second generation Toronado parts source?

Does anyone know of a reproduction parts source for the 2nd generation Toronado. I am aware of the very limited parts selection Fucsiks and USA Parts Supply offers but, was hoping that there might be a supplier dedicated to the Toronado / Rivera.

I have a '78 Toro, last of the 2nd generation, and the answer is no. The situation is no different from any full-size Olds. No one reproduces any body, trim, or interior parts. Mechanical parts, with the interesting exception of a radiator, are generally available with no problem at the local auto parts store or online from places like rockauto.

What year is your car, and what, exactly, are you looking for? If you need body and trim parts, you're going to be looking for someone parting one out. Many things interchange over the 2nd gen models, while others are year-specific. Again, what are you looking for?

Nothing like a Cutlass for parts

Thank you for that information. It will save me from further searching the internet for retail sellers. My vehicle is a 1972. I was looking for a master power window switch as mine fails to lower the front passenger side window. The problem was traced to this switch and not the passenger door switch which is available and the least expensive by far. I have seen one site which will rebuild the switch for just under $200 but, at the moment I am not considering doing that. I also need to replace the hood insulation. I found ready made ones for the 1st generation models and material to make your own. I am also looking for an AM/FM radio. The one I have has a built in 8 track but the radio only has power coming out of one channel. I have tried 2 early 70s Delco radios but neither would fit in the opening properly. It seems that the plastic housing on the front side of the radio which houses the tuner and vol controls are off set in height, where as my radio the are equal in height. I now know what to expect when in need of a part.

This is most certainly a parts-car item. If I'm not mistaken, all four side windows go down on your car. On mine, only the door windows go down, so the master switch has only two switches, not four. I believe the '71 through '74 Toros had four roll-down-able windows, so perhaps a master switch from a Toro from any of those model years would work. I would at least check into that if you have difficulty finding one from a '72.

I think doing it yourself is what you'll be doing. I've not found any vendor who sells hood insulation pads for any Toro other than the first generation. I don't know if it would be of any help to you, but the insulation pad on mine is intact and it good shape. I'd be happy to take detailed measurements of it as well as take good photos. I don't know that the '72 and '78 pads are interchangeable, but they might be close enough.

Again, parts car.

You should make a list of exactly what you need and post it in the Parts Wanted section. You'll be amazed at what people on this site have sitting in the back of the garage or on a high-up shelf somewhere. The insulation pad not so much because anything on a parts car will be just as old and likely just as cruddy as anything on your car. But window switches and radios? You never know.

Also, it more or less goes without saying around here, but we would love to see a photo or two of your car.

car photos

In about a week or so I will have the car back together and take some photos to post. Waiting for the front seat which is being upholstered and the clock which is in transit from being repaired. I decided that I would purchase the hood insulation (48X56) from USA Parts Supply and cut out the pattern using the old one which is still in one piece. After all is said and done I will need to search for a bumper jack. I do have the base but the rest of it is missing. Again, thanks for the information.
