seat belt attachment points?
seat belt attachment points?
Can someone please explain to me where the front seat belts are suppose to attach in a 1970 Cutlass convertible? I recently semi-restored a '72 Cutlass for a friend and the front retractable seat belts bolted to the frame. This '70 convertible I am working on does not have any threaded holes for the seat belts to attach.
Thanks, Dan

Thanks, Dan
The seat belts should bolt to the middle cross brace. I believe the nuts are welded to the back side of the brace. They don't bolt to the frame.
I had a similar problem. The guy who had the car before me repaired the floor with patch panels. In doing so he covered the holes for the seat belt bolts. I had to use a cut off wheel and basically guess where the bolts were. If you look under the car you'll see the nuts on the cross brace. Also instead of removing the seat belt bolts he just cut them off flush with the floor. I had to drill out all four bolts to use the nuts. I wasn't a fun job needless to say.
Unfortunately I don't think I took any pictures of the holes. What I did is just look to see if you can find any pictures of cares with bear floors to see the locations.
Hope this helps, good luck. Dave

Thank you very much for the quick and informative reply!!!
I have almost the exact same situation you described with patch work in the floor board from a previously abandoned restoration attempt. Worst case I will fabricate some backing plates to make it as safe as possible.
Thanks again, Dan
