Scared myself today

My 73 cutlass had a bad thermostat today ....she got a little hot before I Realized what was going on. On the way home after replacing the thermostat it sounded like she threw a rod. What a terrible sickening feeling to hear that rod knocking loudly. Except it was just the plastic fan housing. It came loose and the fan made the most god awful racket as it hit it. Not sure how I'm gonna fix it. Doesn't seem like the right one..... Glad my motor isn't blown . More newbie adventures to come I'm sure.

Glad to hear it was nothing major.
A loose fan housing is a much easier fix than anything internal in your engine.

A few years ago my neighbour came to me for help because she thought her rear suspension was falling apart, I fixed it by securing the loose jack in the trunk....

Glad it was an easy fix for ya...
I had an A/C belt fly off and get wound up in the fan during a freeway entrance - aweful noise! I thought I blew the engine, too. This was on the trip of bringing Lady home from her previous owner, so I was really sweating it!
