Shoppers beware - car relisted
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-Oldsmo...oAAOSwg-Vd-FCC
1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass Y74 Pace Car. Real Festival Car
If I were interested in this car, I would show up in person and make sure he really has possession. It's been relisted
and there's a history of selling a car twice. Ebayer joscarp_4 has changed ebay names several times as mentioned earlier in this thread.

Joe from Itasca is back again. Check out his story on EBay before he pulls the listing. This story is one of his best!

The Winston Churchill 1970 Cutlass Indy pace car. He’s actually run that same eBay story a couple of other times, and may have tweaked it a little bit, but a fun read nonetheless.
File under fiction or nonfiction is the question.

ebay user sixnorth60
Good eye! The real story here is the new (1+years old, but no transaction history) ebay user name "sixnorth60" that's not linked to the "andrew-robert" username that ebay buyer y***k (not me) black-balled last summer after a long history of thumbs-up reviews from vehicle buyers.
The airplane is also re-listed with some interesting text at the bottom that's new including a new phone #. The same Seller will pick up, but sent me straight to voicemail a few days ago with no call-back. He's not happy about this thread and started pointing the f-word at me... Remember, this thread didn't even start until I'd been jerked around for more than 3 months! And I didn't find it 'til 2+ months after that after he disconnected the phone # I'd been relying on to remind over and over that our business wasn't finished yet! Take care of your business dude!

Although the current thread started several months ago, I have been warning our members about "Joe from Itasca" for more than several months under mutiple threads.
I provided legal advice earlier in this thread and for whatever reason, you are reluctant to execute.
I had a personal experience with "Joe from Itasca." A rare U code '72 442, factory air, red convertible had been advertised on Ebay. The car was advertised as loaded with options and represented directly to me as being in perfect shape, mechanically and phsically. The photographs on EBay supported the seller's position.
I wanted to buy the car. I asked a longtime member and friend, StevenGerard, to look at the car before purchasing. StevenGerard lives in close proximity to the seller. I received a call from StevenGerard questioning whether or not I had provided the correct contact information!! The car was described as though it was hit with shotgun blasts. Every panel needed work and there were hidden damages also revealed by inspection. I was advised to " stay clear" of the car irrespective of the price. The car depicted in Ebay's photographs and described by "Joe from Itasca" to me personally, looked nothing like the actual car inspected.
Additionally, "Joe from Itasca " was unable to maintain any semblance of what I was told and what StevenGerard was told. No consistency whatsoever.
I have personally heard his stories. A car I was ready to purchase based on his word, and he is persuasive, fortunately didn't materialize thanks to StevenGerard's inspection.
StevenGerard hopefully will see this thread and may share some details that I'm sure I left out.

Thanks, Twilight Blu, both listings were pulled. And thanks for sharing your story. Don't forget your early advice to me included: "UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE YOU TO DISCLOSE TO THE SELLER OR THE SELLERS REPRESENTATIVES THAT YOU HAVE UNDERTAKEN ANY ACTION."
"Team Joe," I'm the closest thing you got to an ally in this infinitely searchable thread! I can work with you to clean up your online record or I can work with these guys on taking the internet version of a flamethrower to your whole operation! It's not personal! Fulfill your obligations to your customers!
I don't make threats. I don't start fights, I finish them. Take care of your business!

Pretty much. Username & phone # are new to me, Seller's feedback history is familiarly ridiculous. How much you wanna bet he bought his own listing last month so he could leave feedback as Good Seller? Might have to give him a call, see if there's really a motor under the hood and whether I'd see pavement at the bottom of the trunk..

How far is Itasca, Illinois from West Illinois?? I agree, a different cel number, BUT the description of the car, the cars history and his wife pushing him sounds very, very familiar.....
My position, GUILTY until proven innocent!
"Joe from Itasca " may have an alias: "Joe from West Illinois."

Not sure exactly how far but it's the Chicago area so I bet the same person. Also, he also has a couple airplanes for sale and he's listed airplanes in some previous ebay usernames. And the current car pictures are at the airport... hangers in the background.
I'm confused by VoodooChil's comment.. The door tag and the title VIN look like a match to me.

In prior listings, one of his "stories" for selling his cars was a claim that his wife said too many cars and with aviation, too much for his wife.
I spoke with a friend from the area and my friend told me that Itasca is next to West Illinois.
Too coincidental not to be the same guy... similar stories, descriptions, same area. I'm sure he simply changed his cel number.
I'm also sure that "Joe from Itasca " monitors this site.
Again good job!!!

Starting bid lowered and now some action. Listed as West Chicago, and may be a decent car in the shape it’s in, if verified to be a 1971 442 convertible - which the VIN seems to support.
Still don’t understand why people oversell and misrepresent - when the truth comes out sooner or later. Let each car stand on its own merits with an honest description.

Because that grey area where someone got kinda screwed, and they write it off, exists. A scammer wants to cheat you a little so you think it's not worth coming after him. Too much, and you'll take him to court, or Vinny will give him concrete shoes.

I hear ya.
As Emerson said:

The reverse is also true - when you screw others, Karma will get you, and worse. Absolutely not worth it in the long run.

Interesting read on this guy. I’ve enjoyed the thread. Had to sign up for the page to add my $0.02.
fasthemi05 on eBay currently has a 1981 Piper Warrior for sale. It was listed well over a week ago, but was only purchased a few days ago. A pilot came to pick it up YESTERDAY. I know this because I flew this exact airplane one week ago to the DAY. I’m friends with the previous owner and flew it around the field a few times.
It seems as though he is listing vehicles that he doesn’t own yet.
this aircraft is not even CLOSE to the description in the listing. It has some marginal similarities, but is overall in pretty bad condition. Bad paint, cracks all over plastic, dash is coming apart, spilled drinks on the floor. It’s not what he is describing.

I like it. It's a spunky little cruiser. I put my first 3.5 hrs of student flying in it's predecessor before moving over to high-winged Cessnas. That's a great price and a nice engine Lycoming O-320-D3G. Aircraft looks in good shape.

Update: I just checked Ebay. The '71 442 convertible from "West Chicago" has 23 bids and the current bid is $27,900.00, reserve has not been met.
Has anyone tried reaching the seller on published number??
Now is your chance.....

I wouldn't buy a new car from this guy, let alone an airplane!

Ok, OldMustang, I was def high, just didn't think THAT stoned!
If anyone's still wondering whether Team Joe's watching this thread, notice the new photos of the engine by AND one of the trunk pan. Pretty sure I saw the ask drop to $37.5k along the way to the re-list. I agree it looks like a survivor BUT...
SouthernPilot, how'd you find this thread? You can message me privately if you prefer...
Put my '70 on the Freeway recently for the first time, it def needs shock(s) to keep the ***-end in-check! Front, rear, or both I'm not sure yet...

Oh is this "Joey Cip" from Harlem Avenue in Chicago?
If so, guy is an absolute clown, with a bit of local notoriety. I'd stay far away. I think his shop on Harlem is closed now.
Without being any more crude, the guy is a stroke.

West Chicago? About 30 minutes.
Wood Dale, Itasca, and the Harlem ave address (2200 N. block?) Are all close. Wood Dale and Itasca border each other and are about 15-20 mins from 2200 N. Harlem which is the NW side of the City (Chicago)

Nah....that is the far west side, Elmwood Park neighborhood.. Too far south the be the NW side.

I was given this mailing address last year in association with my wire transfer and have since spoken on the phone with a disgruntled Chicago customer who hadn't decided how to approach the residence in his/her pursuit of satisfaction (there was mention of a firearm). I actually think this mailing address is baloney, that it's used by dark-web personalities who offer the actual resident or postal-worker and/or UPS driver a modest kick-back to forward packages & correspondence; but I admit my evidence for this suspicion is thin at best. If you've spoken to a resident at this luxurious residence JoeyCipInsider, please consider sharing your story. You can message me privately if you prefer... Oh, and, "Team Joe," send me that Build Sheet and I'll consider shutting the f up.
