Rust on roof/ceiling -interior

How would you deal with this?
The ceiling has a dusting of surface rust.
A wire wheel and 3M gets a lot off but…it’s still there.

The goal is to put dynamat on.

I think I would just wire brush it and spray on (or brush) some of that rust converter stuff. I'll bet most older original cars look like that under the headliner. I don't think it would ever be a problem..... (I could be wrong.....)

^x2^ I suspect nearly all classics demonstrate this surface rust. I had a 1962 Dodge Dart in 1973 I replaced the headliner & it looked about the same. I like what Greg suggested.

X3 on POR or similar coating. Dynamat will stick to the coating just fine.

Didn’t get a chance for the zinc Rick…
Got a good 3M wheel to knock a lot of the rust off and then hit it with a can of EAstwood Platinum that I had open and laying around.

I know that color doesn’t really matter on the inside, but just the IDEA of painting the ceiling black here in Florida made me start to sweat.

Nice and tidy. Dynamat next.

Looks great Pete !

Zinc Chromate was just a suggestion.
It was one of Ford Motor Company's best developments. That was over a 100 years ago.

Food for thought. Use eastwood products they last a long time.
