Right front blinker stays on when lights are on.

hey guys,
so im putting all new bulbs in the 72 to start and diagnose any light issues. Right now I cant get the right front blinker light to go off while the lights are on. When headlights are on the right blinker stays on solid, no blinking.
It works and blinks when I use the blinker, I was thinking of just buying a new light blinker assembly. The ground in the front looked pretty good, I sanded down the metal and reattached and nothing improved. When i disconnected the ground from the front frame the blinker light stayed on

What do you think?

My guess would have been a bad ground, but it sounds like you looked at that. My next guess would be the wrong bulb, I think that one is supposed to be an 1157 A.

When the headlights are on, both parking lamps should be lit.

Yeah, maybe the issue is with the other side that isn’t lit when the headlights are on. Check for a burned filament in the bulb on that side.

Yep parking lights should be on with headlights. Check with parking lights on only ( 1st indent out on headlight switch) then only park lights and taillights should be on. Older cars had park lights only on 1st indent- then headlights only on all the way out, but by 72 all 4 should be on with switch pulled all the way out. Changed in , what, 66 or so???

thanks for info! now i didnt know the blinker lamps were supposed to stay on when lights are on. maybe its the ground on the other side then.

can the wire in the ground go bad or is a typical bad ground that which isnt making proper contact to frame?

Typically its the ground to the frame, but it can be a broken wire, or a rusted connection, or gunked up socket

just for future reference, i did get the lights working correctly. I messed with the connectors and did the bast I could cleaning them. That has done the trick so far. Just out of knowhere the left front parking/blinker light came on and when I jiggled the line it would go on and off. So cleaned up connector and its working now.

Do you have the small ground wire from the negative battery cable to the fender?
