Restoring ‘64 Olds steering wheel

Does anyone know how a ‘64 Olds steering wheel comes apart for restoration? I removed 2 screws with strange heads from the rear that were attached to V shaped center piece but nothing wants to come apart. The V is loose, but something is definitely holding it to the wheel at the center.

Thoughts? Thanks.

Is the wheel off the car? Can you post a pic? I'm not familiar with that wheel. Usually, either you take screws out from the back, or you remove the center cap or emblem, and it exposes screws.

I am probably the least technological guy in town, but I will try to post pics.

Good job posting the pics. it took me about 2 days to figure out how to get my first pic up. Now I see it, I'm about 99.99% sure the cap comes off first. In the first pic, you can see the fluted section of the chrome cap, then like 1/2" of the chrome cap, I think that's where it comes apart. Normally the wheel's in a car, and you just grab on the fluted part and pull. It will be hard to do now because you have no leverage. But I think the cap pulls off, then you remove the 2 screws on the back (you did that), maybe there's more under the cap. Don't pry, but try pulling it off. If it doesn't come off, wait...somebody else will know for sure. I've fixed cracked wheels worse than that. Tell you more later...

Here's a 65 Olds cap, see how it just clips on with 3 clips?

Another one, different but the same.

Well, once again the good folks of this forum have solved my problem- I gave that center piece a good tug and off it came, no clip damage even.

This steering wheel is the only winter project that I have lined up so far, gotta go slow and make it last!

Thanks much- appreciate your help.
