Repo Window Sticker

TK-85 has informed me he quit making window stickers. I have not been able to find anyone else that reproduces the '70 Oldsmobile sticker.

No reason given. I assumed they don't have data to produce one.

Weird, it's a 1970 convertible 442 VIN used in his description on the ad. Hmmm.

Sorry, I made a mistake thinking the link was to window-stickers.com, which does not do '70 Olds. I've not checked with this guy on eBay. Again, sorry I created confusion.

I would be real wary of the eBay guy, all he sells is "TV SERIES HOUSE MD EXACT REPLICA COLLECTOR PROP "GREGORY HOUSE" VICODIN BOTTLE" stuff and the only pictures he provides are what look to be originals, plus a 87.5% Feedback??? I'd pass...

Appreciate the heads-up on the eBay guy.

I was given a reference (actually an email address) by a guy at Window Invoices who said this guy did a good job with the early Olds. The email address given to me is srvsj1954@gmail.com. Anyone know this guy’s work that goes by this email address?

Did you mean to write "TK-65" and not TK-85??? TK-65 is the gentleman that maintains the Ultra-High-Compression.com web page, and they still have a section active on the website for ordering repro stickers. It's a shame if he's quit doing it, I was just about to try and order one for my 67.

Thanks Frank for identifying that email address. I'll stay away from it.

Dream67442Olds: Yes, I did make a mistake it is TK-65 (High Compression) said he quit making them. Perhaps one person's request holds no weight with him, but if others requested a sticker maybe he would change his mind. Of course, I have not been given a reason as to why he discontinued this service, but at this time, I have to believe it must be a very valid reason. TK-65 told me he was about the only person left that made the Olds sticker when I inquired about needing one for my '70 442.

I wanted to let others know that TK-65 did discontinue this service in hopes that someone else who is capable and had the equipment and data could step in and go-forward.

tnwst - Thanks for the rsvp. I may reach out to TK-65 in the near term via the method suggested on the website and see what kind of response I get. If he tells me the same answer you got, I'll see if I can get an answer as to why he's quit, and what it might take for him to make a few more. Maybe if we can find enough guys who want them to meet some "minimum order number" he'll change his mind? Right now the website says $50 for a sticker, I might offer him a little more if it will change his mind, but I'm not going to go much higher for a fake piece of paper. I just have to wonder if folks get into Copyright issues when doing this kind of thing, especially if some folks have tried to pass them off as originals???

There indeed likely is copyright issues as I read on another online site that the cost of window stickers had increased due to copyright increases. With that said, I have no basis to say that is what is going on with High Compression (TK-65) though.

I just sent TK-65 an email asking him if he had considered selling out his equipment/data to someone else that would be interested in the investment. I've not heard a reply as of yet. I certainly do not want it, but I was thinking more along the lines of one of the online entities would be interested.

tnwst - I'll wait to hear what you find out before reaching out to him, thanks again!

Yes! Steve did the one for my H/O and it is fantastic. He is very easy to work with and provides a high quality product. I have recommended him to a number of Olds owners.

Norm - Nice try, but we covered this up in post #'s 12 & 13. The gentleman (TK-65 username on this site) at ultra-high-compression has told the OP he is not producing them anymore, but gave no reason as to why.

Just playin' around with a template I found online
Not real, obviously, but it was a tad fun to do. I don't know much about the 70 options/prices, but with the right template, it can be done.

At a members request I've attached pics of the one Steve did for my car, front & back. I chose the "aged" look, but they can be made without that as well.

Well, I sure would be satisfied with a document like that! The fonts to me are perfect--or rather imperfect which is great. Thank you for sharing your sticker!

What was the turnaround time if I may ask?

Very nice work. I think those are cool on survivor cars, but if someone goes through the trouble to restore their car to like-new, why run around with a cruddy looking window sticker? I mean, I get the idea on it, and if I had the original it would also be cool, no matter the condition. No offense, but I never quite understood making documents look old when you want your car to look new.

And yes, everything is digital. I wouldn't waste my time trying to use a typewriter anymore. This way, you make a mistake, just back up the truck and there you go.

I get you... but since my car is not restored and I'm not trying to make it look brand new, I felt this was the better way to go. It gets a ton of comments at car shows, even though I explain its not the original.

Then you made the right call being a survivor. It's not right or wrong, just I never understood the fake aging of documents was all.

I would think there would be an issue if these remakes don't say somewhere on it, That it is a non-factory printed document .
I don't need to spell out the reasons

I bit the bullet and ordered the '70 442 window sticker from Steve at srvsj1954@gmail.com.

The guy was quick to respond to my inital email and after I sent my papework to him I was told it would be about 2-weeks turnaround. There would be proofs shared between us before any exchange of money.

I'm thinking about not getting the document laminated. Someone try to change my mind.

If you don't laminate, at least put it in a plastic sleeve, aka paper condom. You'll cry one day if you don't. Then you'll question why you didn't use protection.

Exactly how my transaction went, I think you will be very happy with the finished product. I had mine laminated but as 69HO43 said at least protect it in some sort of plastic sleeve. You'll be happy you did.
