Took the 1.5 hour drive north to Red Deer Alberta to check out progress on my car and as well see how the weekly Show and Shine was doing. We arrived and left early and missed a lot of cars as there was a steady stream coming in as we were leaving. When I lived in Red Deer this show always surprised me both in volume and quality. The show has a great venue with lots of room for both showing cars and spectator parking. It has grown to bigger and bigger venues simply out of demand. Central Alberta is pretty car crazy as you can go to these quite often and still see cars show up that you have never seen. No judging but great atmosphere with folks showing their cars taking the time to answer inquiries. During this visit to the show I saw some really simple but good looking fluid tanks ( Custom Chevy P/U - Coolant and windshield wash) as well a very well done Custom Corvette and a very nice Oldsmobile Starfire. Absolutely loved the Starfire interior!
Two other positives came out of the trip. The shop that is doing a majority of the work on my Cutlass committed to the car being ready mid to late July ( code for probably early August). I also got the hard numbers used for the backspacing on my rims. The backspacing is 5.3". After talking to the shop owner it sounds like we had room for 5.5" which likely would have reduced the amount of rolling that we have to do on the fender well lip. The shop also had a very custom Mustang ( 68 / 69 vintage) that was on the hoist being worked on. It was very well done underneath but I never got to see the interior which I was told was even better finished! The funny part is that the car was bought at Barrett Jackson for $200K and probably has more than that spent on it. The custom sub frame additions and suspension would make this car handle better than they ever did from the factory. The only original parts that are actual Mustang is the body shell. Funny thing is the car has a Hillborn FI stack that is not working well and is also running hot ( a Rousch 427 under the hood). You can spend a lot of money and still have issues!
Good looking and functional custom
Sure has better engine bay access than my 68 Cutlass. Wish its hood came up as far!
Great low dollar custom tanks!
Simply nice~
Loved the interior. The buckets would look good in a Cutlass! Very cool steering wheel.
You don't see these very often.
