Texas Roadtrip

I will be headed to Texas Mar 22 to pick up the blue 72 flattop wagon with my buddy Rick. We will going to Houston and Austin. Probably hit Houston on the 22nd to load the car. Then Austin the next day. So if you wanna grab a burger and beverage holler at me on this thread or pm. As stated in a couple of my ads I can bring parts if they are paid for. I don't want to load the truck down too much in case we find some goodies in TX we want to bring home.

Matt,

I am in need of a passenger quarter panel (or skin) for a 69 442. If you have or have access to let me know. I live in Houston.

Thanks
Sean

I have one off a 68. It's the same except the tailight section. What's your email? I have the inner and outer wheel house too.

442 parts

Matt,

I recently met a guy in Houston that has a '70 442, Black/Black, ram-air, 4-spd car. The car is a big project and I think he is in need of a lot of stuff including an engine. Do you have any '70 442 parts? If you do, I can put you in touch with him and you guys can work out the details.
thanks,
Kevin

Too bad I will be working. There are some good burger joints in Austin. Mighty Fine, Top Notch and others. Safe travels.

I live near Dallas. I'm taking a 70 vista apart. Lots of good parts, if you want to make a pit stop.

What parts are left on the car? I'm getting a 71 vista parts car when we thaw. It may have all I need. I won't know for she until I get it home.

All the side trim is perfect , the third seat is perfect, all the glass that pertains to your flat top is good. The tail gate is nice, no rust. I have the 1970 455 with factory duel exhaust manifolds on it still. The engine runs good, smoke, but is a little weak.

Matt, I finally got in touch with this guy in Houston. I know he needs a 1970 4-spd carb and an engine block. I'm not sure what else but I'll pm you his number and if you could let me know your email I can provide that to him.

I have an intake manifold that he bought from me...any chance I can meet up with you guys as you pass by here and see if you can get it to him? I live in Melissa, Texas on I75 about 35 miles straight north of Dallas. I will be happy to drive out to meet you guys along your chosen route... I suspect you will be going south on I35 to I45. I'll also be happy to buy you guys a beer for your troubles. Hopefully he will buy some parts from you that will make it more worth your while. I would think he would do something for you since it was going to be cost prohibitive to ship it to him.

Finally, I have a really nice, complete and original 1970 ram-air air cleaner that I'm considering selling to him. It was removed from a '70 442 in 1990 and has been stored indoors ever since. It's in great condition, even the snorkel opening area. I'm not sure where the market is on these now. I know you can get repro stuff but do you guys have an idea of how much this original setup is worth? I can send pics if you'd like to see it.

Thanks for your help.. I really appreciate it.
Kevin

Matt, are you still planning to be in the Austin area on the 23rd? Area forecast is for rain through Sat and early Sunday but Monday should be sunshine and high in the mid 70's.

If you plan a burger run on Monday post it up! Or, if you're headed home from Austin on HWY 281N give a shout when you hit the Marble Falls area and we'll grab a beverage. Safe travels...

Checking Google Maps it looks like 281 out of Austin is the best shot back to Tuttle. If so, you'll be passing through here and I'm buying if you want to stop and stretch your legs.... might even get Adam (tru-blue442) to meet us. I'm a little over an hour north of Austin on 281. Check your PM for my contact info. In any event travel safe!

We made it back home tonight from the trip. Wish we had more time to hang out with our Olds buddies. Next time we are in South Texas we will budget a full day at least to hang out.
