Rear Sway Bar

I just re-installed the rear sway bar on my 68 convertible Cutlass S. is it normal that it almost touches the underneath of the rear housing

The bar was originally designed with enough bow for the 10 bolt diff. After the 12 bolt became available, later versions with the same part number had more bow in them.

Specifically the smaller 8.2" ten bolt from the 1964 cars. The Type O "12 bolt" isn't appreciably larger than the 8.5" ten bolt.

I like that "12 bolt" comment. 12 bolts on the cover, 10 bolts inside. Changed gears on the posi to 3:55 and I was got off guard. The wonderful world of BOP.

When I mentioned 12-bolts, I was thinking about the "Type C."

BTW, the later version clears the Type F ten bolt pretty well also. Mine uses ten grade 8 1/2x20 bolts which should be pretty good compared to the twelve 3/8 x 16 bolts of the Type C, lol.
