yeah, I looked at that a bunch of times, but... could have would have should have! 1900 sounds great but then how much would you have to put into it, in the end it would be worth it but how many folks have the money to put into these things right now.

there was around a 8th of a inch of old paint on the hood i counted 4 colors, i chipped away some of the paint on the drivers side scoop close 2 the opening theres a clear as day w31 out line, its been sanded and pained but the outline is clear as day, i would guess the letter/numbers are around 2 inchs tall

I do not know wtf he is seeing either , nevertheless an old sticker impression under the paint does not authenticate a w31. I do not even think there was any decal or emblem from the factory on any w25 hood; w31 or w30 for that matter.

Please for those in the know, educate us all so we do not look like fools.

In 1970 the only W-31 emblems were on the the front fenders.

We are all happy you got "teh deal of the year" the point was just because it appears the hood came from a w31 does not authenticate the car.
"Remember all these things can be added to any car. All cars should have the W42 hood stripes (unless it were a rare stripe delete) and the sticker above the fender marker lights, however since most cars have been repainted, you won't know what was there originally"... google

The only thing you missed was your grand and 700.00 shipping you payed. Be happy for what you got.

OK guys, lets not get cranky with others and get into name calling. If the buyer and seller are both happy with the results leave it there.

The 1969 W cars used a decal on the front fender near the sidemarker light. The 1970 used a chrome emblem on the side of the front fenders under the Cutlass script, as seen in the photo. Someone in the past may have added the decals to the hood scoops.

Right, because EVERYTHING on the internet is true...

Look, we all agree that you got a smoking deal on the hood. The facts are that Olds NEVER put a W-31 (or any other such decal, emblem, or paint) on the hood. The logos were ALWAYS on the fenders, a decal above the side marker light in 1969 and a metal emblem under the Cutlass emblem in 1970. Whatever you saw was added by a previous owner and means nothing since it was not factory installed. It's very possible that this was a real W-31 car and the logo was added to the hood, but it was not factory installed. Note also that the O.A.I. hood and air cleaner adapter was available on any 2dr Cutlass model in 1970 as the W-25 option.

What exactly should i google? w31? w-31? I cant find it.
